Market 455: Speciale 10120 00657 at Gooding – Pinnacle of Giulietta elegance!

Update 2/2/13:  Sold for $90K plus fees.

Giulietta Sprint Speciale 10120*00657, 00120*00911.  This fine example of an SS is due to be auctioned in a few days in Scottsdale.  Not sure why the high estimate for this one ($160,000) is so much lower than the Giulia they are auctioning ($225,000), but hey, so it goes.

Looks really good, but then some guy probably got a decent pay check for taking this and a few other great shots for the catalog.  Accessory steering wheel?  Great shut lines.

Market 205: Giulietta Spider project in Washington

Update 1/10/13:  It runs and stops.  Hurray – let’s put it back on eBay.  Starting price is now $13,000.  It’s not a Veloce, it’s rusty (if you look closely at the underside pictures you can see finger trails where someone took a bathroom caulk approach to pushing filler into rusty areas before undercoating the thing) and unless you have a complement of attributes seldom found in one single person, it will be a confounding factor in your life.

Screen Shot 2013-01-10 at 12.22.20 AM

Serious garage action here.  rear end sits really high -stuff must be frozen under there.

Screen Shot 2013-01-10 at 12.22.04 AM

They’re hanging up the mop on this one…

One is forced to concede improvements have occurred.

Update 2/5/12:  This car is doing another tour of eBay -in what will likely be a decaying series of ending prices.  The last result of $6901 was pretty reasonable for a scruffy, loosely assembled project with the wrong motor.

Update 1/24/12: Close maybe, but no sale.

Market 454: Sprint 10105 20108 Florida barn find

Update 1/8/13:  I have been told this car ended off eBay for $9200.  Anyone here the intrepid new owner?

Screen Shot 2013-01-08 at 7.34.58 AM

I guess they tried to cancel the auction and failed…

1/6/13: Giulietta Sprint 10105 1493*20108, 1315*010329.  This car is on eBay right now out of Chiefland FL. with a current bid of $8000.  I say barn find but it looks to be on the wrong side of the wall -out in the elements under a tarp next to a barn rather than in it.  Condition is pretty good and I think a weekend spent detailing it would yield a nice enough car.  The engine turns over so the next weekend you could probably make it run.  I’d do the detailing first, because if it doesn’t run you may get discouraged and not clean it up at all.

Screen Shot 2013-01-06 at 10.44.47 AMDrivers side headlight needs some attention.  Foglights are a neat addition. Hood fit is excellent.  Missing windshield trim??

2012 SZ and SVZ market review

I realize SVZ’s should probably be grouped with Sprints and Sprint Veloce’s, but the hand of Zagato and the hefty price tags makes me think they are better grouped with SZ’s.  There are never many of either changing hands, likely the result of there being 250 or so of both models combined potentially existing world-wide.  There do seem to always be a few changing hands every year -and a few more on offer as evidenced in this post.  I still think a late Coda Tronca SZ is my ultimate Giulietta. MC12_r352_01 Market 418 was SZ 10126*00051, a nice one that sold at auction in Monaco for $340,000.

Screen shot 2012-02-06 at 10.28.20 AM

Market 379 was this Sprint Zagato Coda Tronca -one of a very few made, and whose number I never caught, with an asking price of 270,000 Euro’s -about $356,000.

Screen shot 2012-02-07 at 9.36.44 AM

Market 380 was an unidentified Sprint Zagato with a 300,000 Euro asking price – about $396,000.

Market 384 was Sprint Veloce Zagato 750 E 1493* 06184, a stunning example of a SVZ, selling for 414,400 Euro’s – about $546,000!

2012 Sprint and Sprint Veloce market review

The Sprint market is also up for 2012.  Good cars are more expensive than last year -the top cars are very expensive.  Cheap ones don’t seem to have moved much though.026[1]

Market 375 was a $2500 Sprint shell with rust.  I suppose it sold since I haven’t seen it making the rounds.

Screen shot 2011-08-30 at 10.05.58 AM

Market 322 was Sprint 750B 08650, just the body selling for $3800.

Market 387 was Giulia Sprint 10112*356053, selling for $8150.

2012 Sprint Speciale market review

The Sprint special market seems to have found its groove.  Hopeless looking cheap ones start at a little over $20,000, with doable, but tough ones coming on at about $45,000.  There is a strata in Europe where decent, well maintained cars seem to be readily available for $60,000 – $80,000, then at the top of the ‘regular’ SS’s are the nice US market cars between $125,000 and $150,000.  Of course Low-nose cars occupy the top of the top.Screen Shot 2012-12-24 at 7.19.03 AM

Market 242 saw the resurfacing of SS 380956 -proving they are all viable these days.

Screen shot 2012-03-24 at 3.04.18 PM

Market 407 was SS 00440, reserve not met at $15,099.

ss front

Market 330 was SS 00381, selling for about $27,000.

2012 Spider and Spider Veloce market review

The Spider market in 2012 is slightly up from 2011, with a lot of cars changing hands.  There were, as always, a lot of cheap scary projects with decent cars coming in the list around $20,000 and thinning out as they approach the top car this year, with an ask of $125,000 -a very nice Veloce.Screen shot 2012-02-24 at 5.23.52 AM

Market 391 was very early Spider 750D 00345 in very bad condition selling for $1000.

Screen Shot 2012-12-16 at 8.28.02 PM

Market 451 was 10103*170856, a rough shell and some parts selling for $2850.

Alf Recovery 013

Market 395 was a Spider roller for a few grand.

Market 453: Spider 09805 nice in red, yes it is!

Giulietta Spider 10103*09805.  This car is on eBay right now with a Buy it Now of $89,500.  It’s a nice one, and before I get into the gory details of incorrectness, I have to remind myself and you gentle reader, that it’s HARD to get a car to this point.  It requires either a steady check writing hand (and a very skilled payee) or an attention span worthy of a Nobel prize.

Screen Shot 2012-12-20 at 7.40.42 PM

This is either a really good shade of red, or the lighting is just right.  Fantastic shut lines, very nice trim, slightly on the blue side of silver wheels, Cibie headlamps.  A nice one.

Market 422: Giulietta Sprint Speciale 177251 now at F40 -bring the kids!

Update 12/18/12:  They always turn up again -this guy at F40 Motorsports.  Price of $139,000 is feeling more and more like a sensible high for SS’s and likely the neighborhood they will come to rest in for a while -unless of notable heritage or otherwise interesting.  This car has few issues, and if red is you color a trip to Portland CT may be just the thing -though I think the leaves will all have fallen by now.

Screen Shot 2012-12-18 at 9.32.45 AM

Nicely turned out with Borrani’s.  Is it just me or are there a lot of wheel weights on that front wheel?  Aren’t the bent ones supposed to go on the back (or get fixed??)?  Panel fit is excellent.  It’s quite red!
