Market 529: Spider 750D 00406 – older restoration

Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*00406, 1315*40343.  This early Spider is on eBay now with a high asking price of $55,000.  It needs to be inspected in person to determine if the price is right.  Early Spiders have been popping up a lot this year!

Great color!  Funny pin stripe.  Looks like a good honest car – everything fits together well.

Looking for an early Sprint 750B near me for photos

I’m working on a project for the site that requires a lot of really detailed photos of an early Sprint 750B (54 – 58).  Anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area have a car I can come take a bunch of photos of and care to help out?  It need not run or even be fully together.  Ideally I’d get to take pictures of a few.

Free access to all my posts if you help out.

Oh wait… they are already free.  Oh well.  Lots of gratitude then!

Thanks.

Like this… only I get to take them!

Market 528: Spider Veloce 750F 05175

Giulietta Spider 750F 1495*05175, 1315*40406 (not matching – also includes 1315*011891).  I got an email from regular reader Chris that he wanted to list his Spider Veloce project for sale on Giuliettas.com -the time pressures of new fatherhood meant he doubted he would get around to finishing it any time soon.  The car is near Kalamazoo Michigan.

The body metalwork has been done and the car painted.  The chrome has all been refinished, and a good amount of it put back on the car.  All the finish work looks to have been done pretty well.  The underside and suspension appears to have been untouched.  The original engine is not included – seller didn’t get it when he bought the car.  The Spider 750D engine included is a really early one, so some creative parts hunting and selling may see this car with an unoriginal but close Veloce engine for not too much money out of pocket, though 40DCO3’s are probably getting prohibitively expensive.  Seller hasn’t provided a comprehensive list, but says it includes lots of extra trim parts, a set of steel wheels, a pair of Dellorto DHLAs probably form the late 60’s, the extra 1959 Giulietta engine and more.

email me at sprints @ giuliettas . com if you want to be put in contact with the seller.

Look -a red Spider Veloce!  Seller is asking $65,000 for car and all parts.  Engine doesn’t currently run – something about a frozen cam, but it has run since being installed.  Assume the worst and probably be pleasantly surprised.

Market 527: a trio of Spiders including a 1956!

Update December 1 2015: The lot sold for a healthy $50,850.  The buyer may be in it to have a big collection of restore-able 1300 Normales, or, like I would do, engage in some creative parts dividing and kit making then sell of the extras and keep the one they really want.  We shall see.

Oh, and a 1975 Spider Veloce…

It’s not often a lifetime collection (or is it an accumulation?) comes to market, and even more rare that it is a true enthusiast for the thing collected.  The seller of this collection is the son of the owner, trying to help his dad sell off his stuff to fund a move to a sunnier climate.  When I first saw the eBay listing I reached out for more info – especially considering there was clearly a “first thousand” Spider pictured.  Check it out:

The cars.  What are they cousins?  Brothers?  Three generations of the same family.  Let me take a stab at it: 1956, 1960, 1975 and 1958.

Legitimate enthusiast?- absolutely.  Gerald Grubb spent a few years showing more expensive, supposedly faster sports cars what a great looking trunk line the might Spider Veloce had.  This car is not among those for sale.  Not sure what happened to it.

Market 526: Sprint 21711 Easy Driver?

Update December 1 2015: Sold!  A very reasonable price I think.  Maybe buyers were put off by the sellers ebay alias.  Testa is head no?

white sprint

Giulietta Sprint 10105 1493*21711, 00536*16757, 6511501.  This fellow is on eBay at the moment out of CT.  It runs and would drive with some brake work and probably tuning.  If I was looking to enter the market with something I could do some light work to and drive, while searching for parts before really digging into, this would be ideal.  It doesn’t look like anything is missing that would keep it off the road, and a lot of the trim bits can be had in repro. A reader has a complete engine for sale that would be ideal for this.  Check it out.

I want a white Sprint.  Actually was originally Iseo Blue… I want an Iseo blue Sprint!  I know a guy with some nice grills for sale that would work for this.  Looks alright.

Market 525: SS 177202 at Artcurial

Giulietta Sprint Speciale 10120*177202, 00120*00850.  This SS failed to sell at Artcurial on November 1 2015.  Estimate was 105,000 – 120,000 Euro’s.  Not terrifically high or low, so likely there just wasn’t anyone inclined to buy one on that particular day.  You have to wonder how many SS buyers there are in the world for an SS at this price, especially considering how many nicely restored cars keep coming to market such as this one.

Don’t need no stinking hub caps.  Hood shut line is almost invisible.  Attractive example!

Market 524: Very late 10106 Sprint Veloce 159755

Giulietta Sprint Veloce 10106*159755, 00106*02602.  This car was auctioned by Artcurial on November 1 but failed to sell.  Bluette or Tornado blue is a great color.  Numbers are matching, and it’s pretty complete, but there is some non-originality and loose ends to be fussed over by the prospective new owner.    alfa_romeo_giulietta_sprint_4

Fog / driving lights recall seldom seen Bertone accessories -probably Cibie or Marchal units.  Looks like an honest driver Sprint in a very nice setting.

Market 523: SS 10120 177258 in UK – some (serious) assembly required

Giulietta Sprint Speciale 10120*177258, 00120*01569.  This SS is available now out of the UK.  Price as listed is a whopping $192,680… that’s “still new in the crate” pricing, but I suspect that’s the negotiable “when it’s done” price, which is not out of the question, but will require some really stellar work to make reasonable.  Metal work has been completed and the car is ready for paint.

I continue to be surprised by how many of these cars have survived.  This looks like it is well on its way to being one of the nicer restored ones.  I like the lights and bumper fitted look.  Makes you feel like you’re on the down hill side of the project.  Continue reading “Market 523: SS 10120 177258 in UK – some (serious) assembly required”

Market 522: Sprint 750B 06376 – needing everything, but doable

Giulietta Sprint 750B 1493*06376.    This car is available on eBay out of Oak Lawn Illinois.  It is about as far apart as a Sprint can get and lacks an engine.  Body has rust.  Not terrible, but not trivial either.  If this was in my neighborhood I’d be tempted by it -being a sucker for hard luck cases and all, and wanting a Series 1 750B quite a bit.  A reader has 2 complete 1959 750B engines for sale in California at $5K each if you are considering this.

This has the little grill bar trims.  Nose is pretty straight.  Looks to have some corrosion in the lower edge.
