Market 240: Sprint 750B 08689 on wires!

Update February 3 2016: This car has come back on the eBay market out of New York.  It’s sold as a car with one owner for over 30 years – but I think that can be said for many many Giuliettas that come on the market – even mine!  Interesting counterpoint to the Sprint out of Mexico I wrote about yesterday.

Bravo on a nice picture.  I like the new yellow headlamps.  I’m still at odds with the wire wheels.  We’ll see how much value the clover leaf stickers and headlamps add.

Update January 12 2012: I have it on good word that this car has been sold.

Update January 7 2012:  The time they are a changin’ for our favorite little coupe.  Just 18 months ago this 750B Sprint 08689 struggled to reach $25,000 on eBay, and now, today it is listed for $64,500 by Fantasy Junction with a big ‘Sale Pending’ sign under it.  It looks amazing in the photos, and with a two liter engine should be a blast to drive, but this price for an Abnormale?  I guess.

A little wide in the stance with these wire wheels.  Attention to detail is impressive, as is the coat of shine.

Market 522: Sprint 750B 06376 – needing everything, but doable

Giulietta Sprint 750B 1493*06376.    This car is available on eBay out of Oak Lawn Illinois.  It is about as far apart as a Sprint can get and lacks an engine.  Body has rust.  Not terrible, but not trivial either.  If this was in my neighborhood I’d be tempted by it -being a sucker for hard luck cases and all, and wanting a Series 1 750B quite a bit.  A reader has 2 complete 1959 750B engines for sale in California at $5K each if you are considering this.

This has the little grill bar trims.  Nose is pretty straight.  Looks to have some corrosion in the lower edge.

Market 323: Black Plate Sprint project 10105*21083

Update October 5 2015: Incase you spent the last 4 years wishing you had bought this car – well, you get another chance.  It’s back on eBay.  Looks to have been improved a bit, but still has a ways to go.

Paint is looking pretty good these days.  Grill is still from an early 750B or Spider.  Good luck adding a front bumper if that’s something you would care about.

Update September 5 2011: Wow, $25,800 is pretty serious for this car.  Ummm, maybe I should stop driving mine every day?  Nah.

Giulietta Sprint 10105 1493*21083.  This car is on eBay right now out of Temecula in southern California.  Car wears its original California black plate but none of the originality usually associate with a black plate car.  A lot of difficult to source trim is missing, engine is incorrect, interior is mostly wrong components with incorrect finish among other things.  It runs and drives (yay) but will require a lot to be original.  Would make a great beginning for a CSRG or other vintage racing group car.  Looks nice though.

Don’t get me wrong, it is a nice looking example.  Sprints are good cars, this example would bring a smile to your face every time you drove it.  I don’t mind the lack of badges, bumpers or hubcaps, but the trim that runs along the top of the rockers is necessary to the shape.

Market 514: Sprint 750B 00356 in Indonesia

Giulietta Sprint 750B 1493*00356.  Listed on Anamera out of Indonesia.  I thought I saw this car out of US east coast on eBay at one point.  Maybe the eBay seller was really in Indonesia?  It’s early and it’s rough, but it is not hopeless…

If it was local I’d go have a look for sure.  Looks to have been well used, but left too long in the rain.  Should have the short windshield?

Market 512: Minty early Sprint 750B 00977 in Italy

Giulietta 750B 1493*00977, 1315*01023, Body 65970.  Yesterday I was really excited about Sprint 00656, today I am, if possible, more excited about Sprint 00977 available form the same seller.  I’m more of a green guy than a red guy, and this car just looks right to me.  I realize it probably has some originality deficiencies that someone with more authority than me will point out, but thats okay, I’d take it just as it is.  I have seen 3 sub-1000 Sprints come on the market in the last few weeks, must be a virus that’s going around.

Anyone near enough to go verify the body number and give us a test drive or in-person review?

That is a great car in a great color.  I wonder how original it was before the restoration?  Looks to have rolled lip rims still.  Even has the neat little turn signal lights and jack point covers.

Market 431: Sprint 750B 06395 -much assembly required

Update October 1 2015: Available now from Joop Stolze.

Giulietta Sprint 750B 493*06395, 1315*05812 & 00112*15344.  This car appears to be offered by ReOriginal’s on eBay out of Livingston TX.  Car is very much where the project I am currently working on is -lots to do!  Paint is 10 years old but shines, interior work looks pretty good and it comes with an extra engine.  No mention is made whether all the trim etc comes with the car.  This is a rare car in that it’s one of the last 750B Normale’s -the last 200 750 ‘eyebrow’ grill Sprints were Veloce’s.

But do the original parts include bumper, ‘eyebrow’ grills, headlights with rings, hood center strip and front center grill?  Looks pretty nice here.  You can buy those bumper bracket trim bits new from several vendors.

Mailand – Alfa relationship – Anyone?

I was checking links, trying to see where some projects I used to keep up on were and took a look at Will’s Sprint rebuild on FB.  It hasn’t had anything posted in a while – unless updates have been made elsewhere.  Something caught my eye when I was checking out his pictures.  His car is a 10102 series, with a 1315*01XXXX engine, and a Mailand plate with 750B on it.  Anyone know what’s up with this?  Only 10105’s are supposed to have this series engine.  I did a post a while back about trade agreement final assemblies in France, Mexico and Germany at one point but can’t seem to find it.  Anyone know what the arrangement was between Alfa and Mailand?

Market 500: Late Sprint Veloce project E159104

Giulietta Sprint 10106 ARE159104, 1315*42314 (not matching, from a 750D Spider).  This car is on eBay right now from the same seller as the two Spider projects concurrently listed out of Connecticut.  Matching number 00106 engine is missing, and it needs a lot of help, but these late Sprint Veloces seldom show up in any form for sale.  I know they guy who bought this on Craigslist about 10 years ago out of the Mojave desert area – assuming this is the only Sprint Veloce in this paint scheme of course.  As usual, it’s a Sprint project and I find myself tempted.  Not the best group of pictures I’ve had to work with.

Not the only metallic purple Sprint I’ve seen, but yes, the only one with white Vikings style swooshes.  Looks like a steering column switch gear sticking out on the right, and a control arm part on the left.  You could live with these grills.  I’d be kind of tempted to get it going and drive it with this livery for a while. Market 494: Basketcase Sprint 750B 06248

Giulietta Sprint 750B 1493*06248, 1315*05668.  This jigsaw puzzle of a Sprint is on eBay out of Dallas.  Bumpers excepted it looks somewhat complete at first glance (Lionel is going to ask me to define complete again) but you have to wonder how useable all the parts are.  Some metal repair has been done, the quality of which is near impossible to determine without seeing it in person, but if you go into this assuming a lot of it will be redone to meet your very high standards, you can just pretend it still has gaping rust holes.  Pete’s has this car listed with a, $11,500 sticker price.  Not a bad deal for someone who already has one of these under restoration.

One wonders at the 56 year road that now sees this car stripped of parts and in primer in a gravel parking lot in Dallas.  Doesn’t look too bad from this angle if you are not afraid of fasteners. Continue reading “Market 494: Basketcase Sprint 750B 06248”
