Market 302: Spider Veloce starter project

Giulietta Spider 10107 1495*07526. This car is available now from Jack L Hunt Automotive in San Rafael via Hemmings.  Car is the odd combination of a transition 1300 Spider Veloce and a 1600 Normale engine.  Seller says it comes with California Black Plates.  Cool!  Asking price is $24,500, only $74,500 cheaper than slightly younger sibling 07600 who made $99,000 at Amelia Island recently.
Great shut lines!  Drivers door shuts as well.  Nose is pretty good too.

Market 253: Spider Veloce driver in SF Bay Area

Update 3/21/11: This car is now listed by the seller in Hemmings.  Price has been reduced to $32,000.  Not a bad deal!
Original post 8/25/10: Giulietta Spider Veloce 10107 1495*10201. This car is available now in the San Francisco Bay Area for $39,875.    The seller has owned the car since 1985 and has been using it since.  Engine in the car is not original and has been recently rebuilt but the original comes with the car.
Looks like a really nice patina on a well loved driver -the perfect compliment to my Sprint -alas I don’t have $40K burning a hole in my pocket…

Market 293: '61 Spider Veloce Ex-Carrera Panamerica

Giulietta Spider Veloce 10107*170380. This car is on eBay right now and has been featured on Bringatrailer.  Eduardo (seller) sent me a bunch of pictures you can see if you follow the vin link.  Engine is a later 2 liter and a lot of modifications have been done that make it ineligible for most vintage race series, but with a few creature comforts added this would make a great event car.  Email me of you can’t extract the sellers info from the above links.
Looks like it should for a rally/race car.  Hood is a later Giulia 1600 item, no doubt used to help clear the 2 liter.  The silver lines seen through the grills are the edges of a big radiator.

Market 292: That 59 Spider Veloce from Amelia

Giulietta Spider Veloce 1495*07600, 1315*32968. This Bill Gillham restored car recently went through the auction at Amelia Island and sold for $90,000 + 10% buyers premium ($99,000).  Seller was the same as he who sold SS 388 for $140,000 + 10% buyers premium.  I actually know this car very well as I went to inspect it for the seller last summer.  I drove it home, stored it, and used it a little to make a list of wants for the new owner.  It drove amazing and turned heads! It had a few loose ends that the seller tightened up.
Black with red interior is the new red with black interior.  This is a nice car.  I drove it.  I was tempted to ask Don what he was talking about the next time he called for an update.  Light and nimble on the road, pulled great for the much poo-pooed 1300 that everyone sneaks a 1750 in place of.  I even dug the 4 speed.

2010 Spider and Spider Veloce market review

2010 saw a lot of Spiders change hands around the world, from the roughest of the probably-impossible projects to the top of the market concours trailer queens. I did my best to take little snapshots as they passed with pictures matched to vin numbers and sale prices, but I probably missed a bunch. Anyway, here they are, cheapest to most expensive. Where no sale price was recorded I made an educated guess.  Last year I had more time so I did the Veloce’s separate -this year they are combined.  Lot of cars this year!
Market 230 was abomination “Jiuliet Spider Velosh” 750F*04640 selling for $1136.

Market 266: Late Spider Veloce

Update 10/10/10: 47 bids resulted in a reserve not met price of $27,000.

Giulia Spider Veloce 10118*390717. This car is on eBay right now out of New Mexico.  It was restored once upon a time by Bobcor to a driver standard with an incorrect engine and some questionable parts combo’s.  Asking price of nearly $40K is more in line with a correct, numbers matching car.  A side note- Fusi lists these Spiders as having an engine with a 00118 prefix -there is no such thing- they came with the same engine as a Giulia SS -with a 00121 prefix.
Passes the wow test -a glossy picture from 10 feet.  Stance is good, bright work looks nice and the door and hood fit is pretty good.

Market 265: Not only did it not sleep…

Update 10/6/10: Despite several long time Giulietta experts chiming in to say it wasn’t worth more than $500, the auction ended at $2850.55 after 4 bids.  The condition of the drive train will dictate whether this is a good deal or not.  I reckon a good 00106 block with all its original stuff in usable condition would go for about what this car went for.
Giulietta Spider Veloce 10125 1495*10189, 00106. This rusty shamble of a Spider is on eBay right now out of York, PA.  Buy it now price is a reasonable $3500 considering the parts it will provide.  With Spider Veloce’s regularly changing hands over $50K these days maybe it’s a viable project for some adventurous soul.
I like the custom crash bar.  Lots of rust here.  Is that a hard top for it in the background?

Market 182: project Spider Veloce 06721 in Italy

Giulietta Spider Veloce 750F 1495*06721, 1315*32582.  This car is listed on Anamera right now out of Torino Italy.  Numbers match, body looks good, hard to find parts are present and no price is stated.  Original color was light blue.  Car is SWB and has vent windows, a combination that stirs a lot of folks up.  I don’t see any evidence that it was reimported from USA but most of these cars ended up in the USA when new so it wouldn’t surprise me if it did too.

This is how you want to find them, dusty, together, on tires holding air and evenly aged.  Hood and door fit are excellent.  Who’s peeking out of the shop?

Market 176: Interim Spider Veloce

Update 1/12/10: Auction ended with 18 bids at $16,751.  If the commenter who outlined this cars history on Craigslist is right, then this is a pretty good result for the seller.  Not really a bad price to pay for a Spider Veloce either if that’s what you want and you’re looking for a pretty good project.

Giulietta Spider Veloce 750F 1495*05693. This car, an early 1959, is on eBay out of Colorado.  It looks like the seller saw the action some Spider Veloce’s were getting in late 2009 and decided it was time to send it on its way.

Looks presentable with shiny chrome/stainless, straight panels and decent paint.  I like the color. Continue reading “Market 176: Interim Spider Veloce”

Market 149: One owner 1600 Spider Veloce kit

Update 9/28/09: 39 bidders managed to get it up to $10,100 but the reserve was not met.    That price would have represented a good buy, heck, anything under about $15,000 would be a good buy to someone who can put it together from all those parts in the pictures.  It costs the same amount and takes the same amount of time to restore a Normale versus a Veloce and the Veloce ends up worth nearly twice what the Normale is so there is no reason this car shouldn’t go for good money.

Giulia Spider Veloce 1600 10118*39018X.  This 1964 one owner Spider is on eBay out of Milwakee Wisconsin right now.  Seller has withheld the last number in the vin “for privacy”.  This is sort of funny since for new vehicles the VIN is a requirement and 85%+ of old vehicles (Alfa’s at least) list their vin.  Sounds like typical ingenuous internet paranoia to me.

1600 veloce pass angleBody looks okay.  Door shut lines aren’t great, hood fit isn’t either.  Wheels need finishing.  I think the new owner will have a lot to do.
