Market 364: Fantastic early 750B 03811 in Switzerland

Update 4/16/13: They all show up eventually it seems and this fellow is no exception -find it here on eBay. Car body is described as having been restored in the Czech Republic, the mechanicals in Germany. I suspect the owner handled a lot of the little details that would eat up hundreds of paid hours. I can’t really comment on the asking price -I imagine the seller has quite a bit in it to have taken it to this level. I am quite taken by this color -maybe a good choice for my Sprint. Market 465: Sprint 1600 353403 in San Diego

Giulia Sprint 1600 10112*353403. This car is available right now from Motoring Investments in San Diego. They have sold several very nice Alfa’s over the years and by all accounts do very high quality work getting the cars ready for sale. This particular example is overall very clean and ready for use, with some slight detail changes that could stand to be done to take it to the next level. Fantasy Junction sold that very nice one I wrote about recently for $56,500, so this one at $47,500 doesn’t seem too far off.

Perfectly clean? Check! Neutral background? Check! Slightly saturated color? Check! Most handsome angle? Perhaps. A nicely composed image.

Market 312: Nicely modified 10105 Sprint at FJ -Sold!

Giulietta Sprint 10105 1493*21131. This car was recently sold through Fantasy Junction. Asking price was about $56,000. I believe this is a car that was sold through Cars Dawydiak a few years ago, but I’ve seen a lot of these cars, so I may be mistaken. Even though it has been sold, I thought I would do a quick write up since it’s a nice but non-original normale that has been hot-rodded and that sold for more than a few recently sold, nearly perfect restored 101 Normale’s I’ve seen. An interesting data point for those that care.

Market 462: Sprint 10112 looking to get out more

Giulia Sprint 1600 10112*355955, 00112*16110. This car is on eBay right now out of Cincinnati from a seller who appears to have some experience with Alfa’s. The car is a good, probably not too expensive starting point to Giulietta/Giulia Sprint ownership, as it runs and drives, looks ‘good enough’ and has only brake maintenance and tires as immediate known needs. It has some rust in the battery area and front edges of the rockers as well as signs of bubbling usually associated with poor paint prep, but nothing too bad.

If anyone gets a sensible vin number let me know.

I have sat with laptop on lap a few hundred times and pondered a good opening line for the pictures. Sometimes I go with the ‘these are tiny pictures, how can you say anything other than “looks okay”‘ caveat, or if I’m in a particular sort of mood I might nitpick something -the odd turn signal lights on this guy perhaps -but occasionally I think about the intersection of the worlds you walk driving a car like: the world of what you want out of owning and driving it, how you want to feel while driving it or writing checks to maintain it, and what you want it to say about you – the view at speed from a minimum of 10 feet away seen by passing motorists and pedestrians. Market 457: Sprint 750B (not) 06035 for $98,000!

Update: Thanks Greig for straightening the numbers out for me -I was going off the top of my head when I said 06011 -should be 06611. So yes, the seller has their numbers wrong… including the price

Giulietta Sprint 750B 1493*~~06035~~, (was) 1315*05570. This car is listed on Craigslist out of Brooklyn, NY. It looks like a nice enough car and all, but has some drawbacks… especially at this price. On a side note, it’s the earliest second series body style Sprint I’ve seen. So we know ~~06011~~ 06611 was a series 1 and now ~~06035~~ is a series 2 -neat! “The only one in the world with this perfection.”

It certainly looks nice here. Has a GTV era Bertone badge on the lower front fender and no rocker trims. Cute little fog/driving lights. 14″ (or are they 13″) rims from a ?. Left and right grills look painted. I do like the white.

Market 38: 1959 Giulietta Sprint Project 20107

Update 2/2/13: Bid to $18,100 with the reserve not met. I’m torn here. $18,100 is not a lot for a complete project car that is ready for a light skim, paint, trim/mechanical refresh and assembly -the body had to be done, but ball-parking it, you will be $10K into paint, $12K into the mechanicals and probably $20K refinishing and assembling trim/interior etc. That’s $60K for a ’59 Normale. I know a few guys who are deeper than that into theirs, but I don’t think I’ve seen one sell for that (have I?).

Update 1/21/13: Looking better without those widened wheel arches, this car is back on eBay after considerable work. Good car for someone who wants to just paint and put together a car.

Metal work looks great! Buyer gets to choose the palette and level of finish. It’s a lot of work.

Market 456: Giulia Sprint 10112 353030 in the North east

Update 4/17/13: 1 bid, $25,000, sold. I suspect this will turn out to be a well bought car.

Update 2/2/13: No sale at $24,101.69. I am thinking they would probably like to get at least $30K.

Giulia Sprint 10112 353030. This late Sprint is on eBay out of Mass. It looks pretty good in the pictures -well except for some mismatched looking paint on the lower edge of the doors, but I’ve talked to a previous owner and they assured me this was a sold car. I usually say it, but here it is again -I like these late Giulia Sprints -there’s a something neat about the fact that this is an 11 year old design when it was made, and only probably continuing to be made to use up parts.

Has all the good points I usually mention -shut lines, straight trim etc. See what I mean about the paint on the lower door edge and on the rocker? I am assured that it was totally solid and just had some paint lifting, probably due to poor prep.

Market 454: Sprint 10105 20108 Florida barn find

Update 1/8/13: I have been told this car ended off eBay for $9200. Anyone here the intrepid new owner?

I guess they tried to cancel the auction and failed…

1/6/13: Giulietta Sprint 10105 1493*20108, 1315*010329. This car is on eBay right now out of Chiefland FL. with a current bid of $8000. I say barn find but it looks to be on the wrong side of the wall -out in the elements under a tarp next to a barn rather than in it. Condition is pretty good and I think a weekend spent detailing it would yield a nice enough car. The engine turns over so the next weekend you could probably make it run. I’d do the detailing first, because if it doesn’t run you may get discouraged and not clean it up at all.

Drivers side headlight needs some attention. Foglights are a neat addition. Hood fit is excellent. Missing windshield trim??

2012 Sprint and Sprint Veloce market review

The Sprint market is also up for 2012. Good cars are more expensive than last year -the top cars are very expensive. Cheap ones don’t seem to have moved much though.

Market 375 was a $2500 Sprint shell with rust. I suppose it sold since I haven’t seen it making the rounds.

Market 322 was Sprint 750B 08650, just the body selling for $3800.

Market 387 was Giulia Sprint 10112*356053, selling for $8150.

Market 450: Giuliettas.com exclusive Sprint 20205 (was M49)

Update 1/16/13: Car has been sold via eBay for $12,500 almost immediately upon listing.

12/13/12: Giulietta Sprint 10102 1493*20205, 1315*010311. This car is available right now out of Florida from a long time Alfa owner/restorer. It is more solid than the usual Sprint project and complete but needs a full restoration to be nice or at least a mechanical freshening to be driven. If you’re looking for a matching numbers complete Sprint as a starting point for a project this may be the car for you! Asking price is “offers in the lower mid-teens”.

This car was Market 49 where it failed to sell for about $5500 back when you could get pretty good runner for about $20,000. Pretty good runners have moved on to start at about $35,000 and projects have gotten more expensive as a result, so I think $12 – 15K would not be a bad deal for this car. Car was originally delivered to a dealer in Italy – finding it’s way to the US in the 60’s.

One could drive this car looking like this. Might cause some grumbling among the purists – but who cares. Marker lights are consistent with a European delivery car. Trim all looks pretty good.
