Market 337: Early Spider racer

Update later the same day:  Sold for $19,800.  A bargain?

Spider 750D 1495*02031.  This car is on eBay right now out of Denver Colorado.  Racing set up is as purposeful as they come, with lots of refinements that probably make it highly competitive.  These cars tend to be a bargain to buy compared to the expense of the development represented in the final product.  I’d have to tone it back a bit so it could be used on the street too.

Between the sun and the saturation of the red, the lines of the car are almost lost.  Widened steels look very tough.  I like the cut down windshield -reminds me of Conrad’s Spider Veloce.

Market 331: Project Spider 750D 03930

Update 11/20/11: Car actually did sell for $6500 and is headed for a new life in Germany.  Thanks for the update Richard!
Update 11/19/11: Car failed to sell.  I don’t know how much of an appetite there is for Giulietta projects in he world, but if what I’ve tracked is any indication, there are a lot of them in the works right now.
10/26/11: Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*03930, 1315*43426.  This car is on eBay right now out of Novi Michigan from a seller that seems to regularly offer Alfa’s.  Condition is rough, as you see, but I’ve seen projects start with a lot worse and it does come with quite a few parts still attached and the right engine.  $7500 Buy it Now or Make offer is the asking.

Seller claims the body is nearly rust free, but everyone’s opinion of what that means is a little different so ask questions, examine the pictures and if possible, go have a look.  Door fits very well and the nose shape looks original.  Windshield is said to be uncracked.

Market 329: Giuliettas.com exclusive Spider 750 racer

Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*04899.  I get the occasional email asking to feature a car and I’m always torn.  I’m doing a favor while doing what some might regard as business and then expected to be objective.  Some have been difficult, but this one, being a purpose built racer, is easy -especially easy since it was restored/racer built in the mid-1980’s.  From what can be seen in the photos the fit and finish is excellent.  Hopefully the racing groups it was built for haven’t changed their tune.
I’m thinking those are widened steel wheels.  A good way to go as they tend to be lighter than alloys -especially what was available in the 80’s.  Paint still looks excellent.  Many a Spider racer has been number 57 methinks.  Stance is tough looking without being too low.  Suspension would have to be very stiff to avoid tire rubs.

Market 327: Very nice Spider 750D 03579

Update 10/11/11: $30,200 with reserve not met.  I would have thought $35,000 or a little less would or should buy it.
Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*03579.  This magnificent example is on eBay right now out of Colorado. 750 Alfa’s are at the top of the Alfa Market for Sprints (06611 or before) and Spiders and I expect this car will go for serious money to bear this out.  It was restored back when repro parts were scarce and original nice parts were still available and reasonable.
No flashy pictures here -just good honest ‘show the item’ shots.  Trunk and door fit looks excellent.  Paint finish looks amazing.  No excuses trim fit and finish is rare to see.  Continue reading “Market 327: Very nice Spider 750D 03579”

Market 326: Clean 101 Spider 169451

Update 9/30/11: Reserve not met after 22 bids resulting in $25,100 offer.

Giulietta Spider 10103*169451, 00102*22443.  This 1961 Spider comes to us on eBay from Goodman Reed Motorcars, the sellers of the vent window SS.  Its a clean solid example with a nice coat of detailing -the right way to sell a car.  Bidding is a reasonable $15,200 as I write but I expect they’d like to see somewhere in the 30’s.  The market is moving fast and I’ll expect they’ll do alright on this car.  Oh, and magnificent pictures as usual.  You can see the full set of pictures via the VIN link above.
Looks like it could be a factory advertising picture from back int he day.  Santa Barbara is a picturesque place.  Is that Oprah’s mountain in the background?

Market 320: Another early Spider 750D

Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*00627.  Available now on eBay out of Santa Barbara is this lovely Spider.  Great color, albeit with an incorrect but no less lovely interior in black.  Seems that now’s a good time to be in the market or an early Giulietta.
Someone knows what they are doing with a camera.  The composition, lighting, saturation etc is all perfect.  Hood fits great and trim looks right.

Market 319: Spider 750D 00134

Update 3/8/11: Reserve not met at $60,100.  Wow.

Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*00134, 1315*40206.  On eBay now out of what is one of the epicenters of classic Alfa Romeo’s in the US comes this very early example.  The sellers description is verbose to say the least, but rightly so when hoping for big$, and it’s attached below for future generation to appreciate.  Sorry about the lack of posts lately -was without much internet for most of July.
I saw this and thought -look at that bird flying in front of that white car -oh, er, that’s a Giulietta Spider.  Okay, car looks great.  Paint is not over the top shiny but that’s how I like it.  Do these have rolled lip rims?

Market 318: Spider 00599!

Update 8/7/11: Sold to the man in the big yellow hat for $32,200!

Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*00599, 1315*40613.  This very well preserved (or neglected to good effect if you prefer) early Spider is on eBay right now from often in action and well respected seller ‘Davelit’.  Check it out now.
Good start.  Car was originally light blue -would be nice to see it go back.  Hood fits very well.

Market 317: Spider Telaio 00040!

Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*00040.  This car, available on Autoscout.it was brought to my attention by Elmar who keeps an eye on the European market for interesting cars.  A quick disclaimer is that the seller states that it is car number 40, but I haven’t seen a picture of the vin to verify that it is in fact that car.  Whatever the vin, this is a great looking early Spider.
Looks funny in this pose.  I don’t know that I’ve featured this look before in a headline picture.

Market 316: Pretty good Spider in Houston

Update 6/30/11: Failed to sell for $24,500.

Giulietta Spider 10103*169986.  DriverSource out of Houston Texas, who have had a few cars listed on this site over the years now has this Spider listed on eBay.  While it has its problems, it is a pretty good place to start Giulietta Spider ownership -as it runs, drives, stops, is complete, and doesn’t have gaping holes.  On top of that it’s a good looking enough car that you wont feel bad using it as is until you can get a coat of original gray paint back on it (or whatever you want but I advise gray).
Wow guys -great composition!  The green, the red, the blue, the road, the horizon.  Nice looking car too.
