Market 161: Nice 1600 Spider in Seattle

Update 11/6/09: 30 bids, $26,100, reserve not met.  A lot of money for a 1600 Spider.  I suspect we will be seeing this car again.

Giulia 1600 Spider 10123*372671. This car is currently on eBay out of Seattle Washington. There seem to be a lot of these 1600 Spiders making the rounds on eBay lately, perhaps a good time to jump in if you have been considering one.

spider 372671 cliffVery nice image here. Good to see someone thinking about how the effort put in to listing a car is proportional to the result. It just looks right. Trim, stance, panel fit -everything and a nice vista to boot.

Market 160: Giulia Spider for parts?

Giulia Spider 10123*392625. This car was on eBay last week listed as a parts car by a pretty well known Alfa guy. The auction disappeared before I could get a post together about it, but for the sake of the poor soul who will one day buy this car with an aim to restoring it and happen upon my blog, I feel like I better include it.
!BdIOcFwBGk~$(KGrHqUOKjMEq5RRLe9mBK3gy+5iK!~~_3So far so good. I like the fog lights. Headlight and headlight rings missing is kind of typical for a car described as a parts car. Nose sheet metal looks good on the outside. Windsheild doesn’t appear to be cracked.

Market 159: 62 Spider project

Update 11/6/09: 13 bids, $6400, about right.  I bet this sale goes through.

Giulietta Spider 10103*171165.  This lovely project Spider is on eBay right now.  By the VIN number this car was made in mid 1961.  It comes with a Fiberfab or some such hard top -gooney but effective at keeping the weather out.  Auction is light on detail photo’s but from what is seen, it looks alright. I think if you lined up all the Spiders left in the world side by side, worst condition at one end and each car improving as you made your way to the other end, you would find this car about center.

171165 noseI think I would have moved Pa’ out of the way so a potential bidder could see the all important nose sheet metal.  Paint is stated to be light blue but looks gray here.  Engine compartment has a lot of wires etc all roughly where they should be.  I don’t see any evidence of rocker rust.

Market 119: Cheap Giulietta Spider Racer

Update 10/20/09: 28 bidders resulted in a seling price of $13,500. This is very low for this car. A competitive 1300 engine alone is close to $10K to build. I wish I wasn’t paring down myself or I would have jumped in! Another Giulietta heads for Germany.

Update 10/14/09: This car is back on eBay. Previous buyer and now seller has a pretty comprehensive description and you now know exactly what you are getting. If nothing else, the auction is worth a visit to see some vintage pictures of it in action. I wonder what has been done to the engine? Cams? Big valves? Look for a solid end price this time.

310250106_oLooks like fun. These cars look good with no grill trims at all.

310250114_oIt’s hard to put a price on proven track time. This car seems to have it. I want a race car!

Giulietta Spider Race Car 10103 1495*11341. This car was on eBay briefly last week and ended BUY IT NOW on 5/22/09 for $12,000. Someone got an amazing deal or ripped off and I suspect the latter. If you know this car drop me a line.

ar%20(2)Good color, great panel fit, very nice trim condition.

Market 153: 750D Spider roller project

Update 10/20/09: 8 bids drove this car to $5451.45, a nice round number. Decent money and probably right at that point where the buyer and seller are happy. Another Giulietta off to foreign shores?

Giulietta Spider 1495*06230, 1315*05817.  This roller of a project Spider is on eBay right now out of Huntington Beach california.  Car was made 3/9/1959 and is a short wheelbase interim car.  Looks fairly complete but in need of a lot of help.  Engine is not original.  Opening bid is $5000, less than the aggregate parts value and very reasonable for a project this complete.

spider nose 06320Nose is a little busted up but not horribly.  Hood does what it was designed for.  These cars look tough without a windshield.

Market 151: Nice Red Spider

Update 10/12/09:  No takers at $34,500 which is a surprise, usually cars that have had this much work lavished on them sell because there is a whole segment of buyers who know you get a lot for free when you buy a restored car.  Isn’t the saying that you buy the restoration and get the car for free? Has a few faults but is as good as or better than cars that have sold for more.  If I were the seller I’d do some light detail work under the hood and relist it next March when everyone has convertible fever.

Giulietta Spider 10103*170689. This car is on eBay right now out of Southern California. Car looks great in the pictures but for the $34,500 buy it now asking price, there are a few details that should be a little better, especially if the claimed outlay of cash is genuine. It does look great though!

spider nose low 170686Very nice angle on the iconic Giulietta Spider. I agree with the seller that the front is a little cleaner without the grill ‘tusks’. Stance looks good and if it handles like it promises then it will be sweet.

Market 138: 750D Spider project

Update 10/12/09:  $4250, 25 bids, reserve met.  Doesn’t happen very often that a car does better the second time around.  This means my Spider is under-priced!

Update 9/28/09: It’s back. I guess the high bidder last time got cold feet.

Update 8/10/09: Sold for $3102 with 15 bidders. I guess this means my $4000 asking for my Spider is about right.

Giulietta Spider 1495*05384. This project car is available right now on eBay out of British Columbia Canada. $400 opening bid is a sensible starting place and with the amount of information given about the car it may not be far from the end price. To it’s credit it is basically complete.

Spider 05384 noseAverage Spider checks in for some work and never checks out. The body looks to have been in pretty good shape. Rust, rust and rust seem to have exerted themselves. No quarter (wing) windows. Sigh.

Market 146: Nice expensive Giulietta Spider

Update 9/18/09:  This car sold for $35,000 with 4 bidders joining the fray.  I am thinking that this car was very impressive in person and the winning bidder went and saw it.  Regardless, this is BIG money for a Spider Normale with the wrong engine.  Well sold!

This car is essentially the same as my project Spider being a late 1300 in gray with red.  Time to get to work.

Giulietta Spider 10103*170953.  This car is available on eBay right now out of Florida.  Seller says it’s a restored 1962 1600 Spider.  It was really born in 1961 and was originally a 1300.  It’s not a Veloce, so it doesn’t really matter that it’s not powered by its original engine.

front 170954This is the same color combo as my spider, red on gray, and in my humble opinion, probably the best color combo for an Alfa of this period.  Bumper over riders have been deleted.  Stance is perfect, hood, door and trim fit is as well.

Market 142: restored 1600 Spider

Update 10/12/09:  An offer of $30,000 has been accepted for this car.  Well bought?  Well sold?  Who knows, I’m just surprised the seller got $1000 more than the Buy iy Now price from the first time around.  Nice work!

Update 9/16/09:  After failing to attract a bid at $29,000 the seller has relisted this car with the ante upped to $35,000.  Makes perfect sense to me…

Giulia 10123*379928, 00112*11686.  This car is on eBay right now with an opening bid/Buy it Now price of $29,000.  The car has 7000 miles on a restoration.  The mechanical specification is impressive and if everything is as stated, this is retail price for a good car.  I’m not excited about the red paint, but would rather have a no nonsense usable car in a color I am not excited about than a car that needs a lot of TLC in a color I love.

Alfa 1600 Spider 101Paint looks great, as does trim and shut lines.  I need a set of these headlight rings!  From this angle and with this camera it looks like it’s peering out of a goldfish bowl.

Market 129: 750D 05382 red Spider project

Update 10/12/09: 4 bids, $8650, reserve not met.  Kind of a bargain if it could be gotten around this price and you are not looking to go crazy ‘investing’ in a restoration.  I’d drive it in this shape.

Update 2009/08/13. This car is back on eBay. Some new and honest pictures showing the state of things have been added.  I wonder what happened to the $9000 BIN?

Update 2009/07/14: Apparently eBay was just used to get someone to email the seller and say “I’ll give you x dollars for it” because the auction was ended early. I received a reply that $9000 was the buy it now price so I’ll assume that is what it sold for.

Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*05382, 1315*44373. This red 1958 Spider project is on eBay right now out of Connecticut. Auction is minimal at best with the seller not even bothering to roll it out enough to take a picture of the back, but from what can be seen in the pictures it looks like a pretty solid example.

m129 noseThis is how you find them when they have been left alone. Would probably clean up and look pretty good with some polish and realignment of a few of the trim pieces.
