Market 495: Sprint Veloce Basket case 10124*23895

Giulietta Sprint 10124 1493E*23895, 00106*01059 & 00102*29231.  This Sprint Veloce is on eBay being offered by Classic Invest out of Denver Colorado.  It is incomplete, but tempting for a guy like me who has boxes of parts and a scruffy Sprint Normal to potentially move a bunch of parts off of.  This series of Sprint seems to have come with an 00106 Veloce engine, the US version of the early 10106 Sprint Veloce.  I have 10124 23899 in my picture files, and it has an 00106 engine with 40DCOE’s instead of 40DCO3’s.

I worked on a car like this, that had been painted at some  point in the last 10 years and then was stored a lot like this.  There will be scuffs and scratches to the extent that you may just want to go for it and repaint it now while the painting is easy.  Grills look alright.

Center bumper looks a bit tarnished.  Paint looks decent enough.Screen Shot 2014-05-18 at 8.07.41 AM

I’m not very excited about this upholstery.  Someone started to assemble little dash bits to it.  A lot of what’s seen to be missing here is not that tough to get. Screen Shot 2014-05-18 at 8.08.14 AM

Floors look alright.   You have to wonder how this California car got to this point then shipped out to a classic dealer.  How do these dealers get ahold of these cars instead of enthusiasts?  I would have jumped on this if it was on Craigslist in my area, and probably payed more than it will be bid to here on eBay.Screen Shot 2014-05-18 at 8.08.26 AM

The infamous tank breather ridge.  Looks like someone just welded a plate over a rust hole near the battery.Screen Shot 2014-05-18 at 8.09.37 AM DSCN2296

This is where you’re knowledge of Sprints really helps.  The really big round-ish trim is for the rear window.  Not sure what those tail light lenses are about.  Mostly Sprint parts here. IMG_20140422_114516_013

This car wouldn’t have a 40DCO3 set up, so selling these will get you pretty far down the road to buying a lot of parts you do need.  Sump on this car is a Veloce item.  Head is the later round galley plug type.  Valve cover is Normale item.

I spent a good hour looking at this car yesterday.  Between it, my Sprint and my spare parts, I’d only come up about $8,000 -10,000 short on parts and end up with a fairly valuable car if put together well.  That said, I am preferring a boat tail Spider right now…
