Marko sent me a link to this race prepped Giulietta SS, available on mobile.de, with a seller located in Italy. The asking price is 57,900 Euro’s or about $77,500. Seems like a lot, but there is no telling what was done to make it a race car. If anyone knows the VIN for this car, let me know.
The airbrush job on the background is interesting. Wheels are later small-hole Borrani’s.

2010 Sprint Speciale Market Review
Sprint Speciales are why I started this blog. Below are the 2010 SS sales I recorded including the sale of my own two cars. Seems like prices have gotten a little more realistic for middle of the road cars. Enjoy.
Market 250 was 2 cars, the cheaper of which was SS 10121*380211, quite rusty but with matching engine selling for $6500.

Market 271: early SS racer in Italy
Giulietta SS 10120*00215. This car is listed on Luzzago at the moment out of Italy. It has been modified quite a bit for racing but looks as though the removal of some decals and moving toward a more stock interior might yield a fun street racer.
Headlight covers aren’t my thing and the grill is from who knows what, but under here is an SS.

Market 268: SS project in France
Giulia SS. This project is currently available in France. I have to assume it’s not complete or they would have shown more pieces. Anyone here care to send me a translation of the ad?
Was red. Note there is a lot of the car missing below the A pillar in front of the door jamb. Maybe a door in the car?

Market 267: SS in Europe
Update (later the same day): Okay -I know this car because Jay drove it on the Melee in 2000 or 2001.
Giulietta SS. Marko sent me a link to this one. I get the feeling I’ve seen it before but can’t remember when/where and don’t have time to peruse the last 30 months of markets to find out -I wonder if it’s a local car I was trying to track down last Spring out of Stockton Ca? It’s listed as a 1962 and by the look of things it is in decent shape though not very original, with a 36,000 Euro asking that makes some sense.
Script in its mouth is odd. This is pretty close to the effect I was going for with my SS had I followed through with it. Wheels are later 105 items. Has a roll bar and the headlight rings don’t look quite right -maybe Fiat 124 items which work fairly well on SS’s.
Markt 259: Nice Giulietta SS in the US
Update 10/19/10: This car is now on eBay and features a lot of pictures. Also, I had the VIN wrong -it’s 10120*177423 (link is to more pictures) with engine number 00120*01775. I wonder if the seller from Hemmings knew they were selling it to a dealer?
Update 10/4/10: Driversource bought this car, gave it a polish and now you can buy it from them for $59,500.

Update 9/9/10: I have received word that this car has been sold. You snooze you lose!
Giulietta Sprint Speciale 10120*177423, 00120*01775. This car is for sale right now on Hemmings out of Belleville Michigan for $50,000 -not bad for a nice original car, just under 40K Euro’s.
Hello Gorgeous! I like them in white. Corner marker lights look a little far back on the fender, but maybe the one’s I’ve seen are too far forward.

New correct Sprint Speciale wind deflector's available now!
In the pursuit of perfection, or at least originality, Ben in Austin did some research, compared some original samples and when he knew he had the secret of their original shape uncovered, got some proper wind deflectors made -one for his car and a few extras to sell to SS owners like you to help offset the expense. I know what you are thinking -lots of Alfa parts retailers carry a flat reproduction of these and they are not expensive -so why go through the trouble? Thing is, several original deflectors were compared and all had a 15 degree angle back toward the windshield to them, which means they are not simply a flat profile cut from Plexi (or whatever) like the current repro’s available. Check it out.
Old beside new. Makes sense that it would be this shape. Franco was hyper-sensitive to aerodynamic efficiency (you’ve seen the pictures with strips of wool attached to the car at speed on the autostrada) and this bend would create a slightly more slippery shape. Good work Ben!

Market 171: SS 10120*00474 in Europe.
Giulietta Sprint Speciale 10120*00474, 00120*01042. This car is available now on several European classified listing services. Price is 35,000 pounds -about $56,900 at the time of writing. I have this car on the Production and Register page as being in the USA, I guess it’s on the move.
I have decided against red, mainly because my Sprint is red, but this car has me reconsidering. Appearance of this car is what you would expect for an expensive example. I almost just typed that this car is a mid-range car after yesterdays $125,000 effort. This is a good solid ready to use car.
Market 145: Giulietta SS 00347 in Belgium
Giulietta Sprint Speciale 10120*00347. This car is available right now in Belgium from Marreyt-classics. It was assembled in France by Renault which means it has a glass brake fluid reservoir and a special build plate. It probably also has a town/country horn set up and would have had all yellow headlights.
This car is probably Bosphoro blue, one of the more common non red/white colors you find SS’s in. Sitting here in the sun this car looks excellent.Â
