Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*04899. I get the occasional email asking to feature a car and I’m always torn. I’m doing a favor while doing what some might regard as business and then expected to be objective. Some have been difficult, but this one, being a purpose built racer, is easy -especially easy since it was restored/racer built in the mid-1980’s. From what can be seen in the photos the fit and finish is excellent. Hopefully the racing groups it was built for haven’t changed their tune.
I’m thinking those are widened steel wheels. A good way to go as they tend to be lighter than alloys -especially what was available in the 80’s. Paint still looks excellent. Many a Spider racer has been number 57 methinks. Stance is tough looking without being too low. Suspension would have to be very stiff to avoid tire rubs.

Market 327: Very nice Spider 750D 03579
Update 10/11/11: $30,200 with reserve not met. I would have thought $35,000 or a little less would or should buy it.
Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*03579. This magnificent example is on eBay right now out of Colorado. 750 Alfa’s are at the top of the Alfa Market for Sprints (06611 or before) and Spiders and I expect this car will go for serious money to bear this out. It was restored back when repro parts were scarce and original nice parts were still available and reasonable.

Market 195: Sprint in Portugal

I think I would take fresh pictures rather than reuse these close to 2 year olds…
Update 7/1/10: No sale last time I suppose. Now on eBay again… better $20K? Â Doubtful.
Update 6/24/10: Auction ended at $22,850, reserve met. Â Not such a bad deal when you consider it wouldn’t wouldn’t be too hard to turn it into a nice car with a nearly unique feature in the vent window.
Update 6/10/10: This car has made its way to ebay and the seller has listed the vin number -1493*08477, so I now have another to add to the register. Condition is described as ‘restored to like new’ but it’s not… incorrect driver restoration is more like it. The kind of car that gets bid up to just under $20K. Vent window is still a neat thing though.
Original post March 3, 2010: Giulietta Sprint. I found this car on a Japanese classic car site and it’s available out of Portugal for just under $33,000. A Portugese car on a Japanese website makes perfect sense really -the Japanese are highly refined in their car collecting and own a disproportionate number of interesting Italian cars, many Giuliettas among them. Why not market directly to the money?
Looking back over the last few weeks I’ve been trending toward more international market entries (among the posts about welding on the SS). What’s up you ask? Well, there aren’t many Giuliettas for sale in the US right now. Must be the weather!
The body and paint on this car is really pretty nice, panels fit well, trim embellishes as intended, not much to complain about to be seen. A careful viewer of the above picture will note a rare feature.

Market 15: "Beautifully restored Giulietta Sprint"
Update 9/15/11: A note from the seller: “Actually I did quite a lot to the car since I bought it from the man in Savannah GA who offered it on ebay. That was about 30 months ago. Paint was carefully hand cleaned, hand clayed, hand polished and waxed. Carpet was replaced with custom colored wool woven plush material, of very tight linear weave. Engine bay was extensively cleaned and detailed. Original Lodge spark plugs and Cavis wires installed. Original air cleaner canister was refinished and re-installed with an adaptor to the dual barrel Weber. Engine was fine tuned and a complete new centerline exhaust system was installed by Mike Besic. Brake system was completely fine tuned. Five new Pirelli Cinturatos installed. Interior was cleaned and extensively detailed. Trunk was extensively cleaned and detailed. Fog lights were replaced with Carrellos. It all seemed like a good idea at the time, and then the 1958 Veloce Confortavole came along last Spring. I actually took the 1960 Sprint and 1969 Duetto to the Concorso Italiano last August. That’s where the buyer saw it for the first time. He drove it the following week at Fantasy Junction. Car sold yesterday. Five days after Fantasy Junction offered it on their website.”

Update 9/14/11: First -I had to really dig to find this old post. I’ve been at it a while now it seems. Champagne all around! Okay, wishful thinking aside -this car is now available from my frequently frequented, frequently well stocked with frequently above average -in this case way above average cars, Fantasy Junction. Asking price is an inspiring $49,500. Yep. “Sale Pending” the website says. Mines parked on the street in Oakland California with the windows open. Heh!
My car looks almost this good from space on a rainy day before they fixed the Hubble lenses. That’s a nice car!

Market 324: Rough SS project 177353

Update September 12 2011: Beverly Hills Car Club is the lucky dealer who gets to add the dealer tax/toll between the end buyer and first seller of this car. I guess it’s sort of like interest on money loaned. Anyway, they scrubbed it up, added $7000 to the price and have it listed.
Taking turd polish to new heights! Original bosphoro blue is a great color -if it had its original engine it would be an even better car to restore. Lot’s of work to do but someone will do it. Judging by the tires this thing has been off the road a LONG time. Lots more pictures here.
Update September 3 2011: Sold for the Buy it Now price to the man in the big yellow hat!
Giulia Sprint Speciale 10120*177353. Been a while since we had a rough SS on the site, but this car on eBay right now makes up for the lack. Needs a lot and when you get it apart it will need a lot more. Price of $19,500 BIN is not too bad really. Lets see, 177061 has failed to bring more than $85,000 on eBay despite being a really nice example, take $19,500 from that leaves $65,500. $20,000 in bodywork, $10,000 in paint, $10,000 drive train rebuild (and still not correct)… you get the idea. If you want one and are handy with tools though, who knows.
It’s an SS, it has some glass, it’s on 4 wheels, it doesn’t have any huge dents. So far so good.

Market 226: SS 10120*00533 in Florida
Update 8/24/11: It has been reported by several attendees that this car made $190,000! Serious money. Lightweight Sprint Veloce Money. SZ money not too long ago. Now every bumpkin who inherits a busted up SS is going to be offering a $190,000 Buy it Now on eBay. Nice.
Update 8/20/11: This car was spotted at the Gooding and Co auction this Monterey weekend, spruced up and looking to sell for a lot of money based on its preservation status.

Giulietta Sprint Speciale 10120*00533. Elmar, the European correspondent sent me a link to this SS that is available now from Pegasus in Florida -car was owned my the owner of Centerline for a while. Condition is said to be all original and as can be seen it has the rare vent window option. I’m not sure what they are asking for it.
This is a great color- kind of a platinum gray silver. It’s said to be as good as it looks. Trim, shut lines etc are all fine.

Market 320: Another early Spider 750D
Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*00627. Available now on eBay out of Santa Barbara is this lovely Spider. Great color, albeit with an incorrect but no less lovely interior in black. Seems that now’s a good time to be in the market or an early Giulietta.
Someone knows what they are doing with a camera. The composition, lighting, saturation etc is all perfect. Hood fits great and trim looks right.Â

Market 319: Spider 750D 00134
Update 3/8/11: Reserve not met at $60,100. Wow.
Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*00134, 1315*40206. On eBay now out of what is one of the epicenters of classic Alfa Romeo’s in the US comes this very early example. The sellers description is verbose to say the least, but rightly so when hoping for big$, and it’s attached below for future generation to appreciate. Sorry about the lack of posts lately -was without much internet for most of July.
I saw this and thought -look at that bird flying in front of that white car -oh, er, that’s a Giulietta Spider. Okay, car looks great. Paint is not over the top shiny but that’s how I like it. Do these have rolled lip rims?

From 3/24/11: Giulia SS. This car is available now from Classic Car dot com. It is described as a 1964 Giulia but no vin is stated. Anyone know which car this is? Asking price is 60,000 Euro’s (about $85,000 on 3/24/11). Description states the seller converted it to race spec -I wonder if it comes with the stock components that were removed?

I like this color a lot. Fog light placement is interesting -I was going to put fog lights on mine, but use the bumper bracket mounts. Wheels are period magnesium items.
