Market 242: frightening SS project 380956

Update 12/8/12: Still available.  Surprised?  Me neither.  This is a long uphill slog with a boulder on your back.  You would have to be a lucky guy who bought a project that came with an extra cars worth of trim etc.

Update 2/12/12: Elmar informs me this car has been relisted by Laurent with a reduced asking price of €8,900.  No less a crazy project!

French build plate.  Positive ID.  Someone somewhere will decide this is worth fixing.  Eventually.

Market 447: Spider 170763 in Florida

12/24/12: Tough to say whether it’s just right or a bargain at $27,100 -but if they overpaid, it couldn’t have been by much.

12/7/12: Giulietta Spider 10103*170763.  This car is available now on eBay. It is nice enough but unremarkable. The description, though verbose, doesn’t say much about the car and the pictures are way to small to do anything but tease. Both leave a lot to the imagination -a tactic no doubt, because most people fill in the missing information with imaginings that add up to an impression of what they want to see rather than what is there. Regardless, the price is still low and if it’s as rust free as described, it wouldn’t take much to turn it into a very nice car.

All the pictures have this ‘a little too close’ air and saturated color.  Does look nice though -so desired effect achieved.  Infinitely better to start here than a rusty hulk.

Market 446: Sprint 750B 09141 in Washington

Update 12/12/12: A reader has commented that this car has sold for $42,000 and another reminded me that the Craigslist price was $18,000 obo.  Such a deal!

Giulietta Sprint 750B 1493*09141, 1315*07630.  Cosmopolitan Motors appears to have been the ones who picked up this car that was sold out of an estate sale a while back for $20,000 OBO.  A few guys who I correspond with on occasion were trying to buy it so I looked at pictures of it a few times back then – unfortunately I didn’t save any.  Looks like a really nice original-ish car.  I wonder what the current asking is??  Thanks for sending me this Zen.

One could definitely do worse than this as Sprints go.  Has Autorouche (sp?) headlights same as Jeff has on his Giulia SS.  Hood fits very very well.

Market 445: Sprint 20753, nice but not original

Update 12/12/12:  Listing ended -no bids.  So it goes.

Giulietta Sprint 10105 1493*20753.  This car is on eBay right now out of Illinois from a 0 feedback seller who has 5 cars on offer -the other four being modern Italian exotica.  This Sprint looks very nice, and will certainly satisfy someone looking for a sporty 1950’s Italian coupe, but the purists out there will give it some rough treatment – especially at nearly $40,000 asking.

Body and trim looks great.  Grills appear to have had the ‘chip-cutter’ portions removed and these home-made horizontal bars added.  Nice mirror.

Market 413: Spider 10103 08586 in SoCal (or is it 08536?)

Update 12/12/12:  No sale at $15K.  I’m sure we haven’t heard the last.  Note that it is new information that it has engine 1315*32058 – a Veloce engine.  Would like to see a picture of the block stamping.

Update 11/26/12:  This car has turned up on eBay again.  Still doesn’t look like a bad car, but it is wrong in some key areas that are keeping the price low.

Update 7/1/12: Seems like it should have been bid up higher…

Giulietta Spider 10103 1495*08586.  This car is available on eBay from Chequered Flag, frequent purveyors of classics.  Car is restored to mostly original with some ‘as fits the owner’ condition additions.  Mostly good, but with some deviations from stock that beg for a definition of ‘restored’.  At least the asking price is not overly inflated.

In the tradition of red.  Body looks pretty good, as does the trim.  It’s easy to nit pick a nice car, but easy to forget it’s hard to get one this far.  Put that top down already!

Market 444: Giulia SS project -been waiting for this one

Update 12/12/12:  Sale but no sale at $60,000 then sale again at $50,000.  If anyone found out the vin, let me know!

Giulia SS.  This car is on eBay out of Georgia right now.  It’s complete ‘original’ and very rough.  Bidding has it at $60K.  Why have I been waiting for this one?  It was posted on the Alfa BB back in 2008 (here and here at least -if you search on other post by Steve, you’ll find more) when I was just starting out with this site.  He even started a blog about it.  Odd, but I still don’t have the vin number of this car.  Check it out.

Sweet sweet project.  No sign of the rot hat lies beneath.  Cool lights up front.  Go for it -only about $80K from restored.

Artcurial Automobiles sur les Champs 4 – Giuliettas at auction

I can take a hint guys!  A few of you pointed me in the direction of Arcurial’s ‘Automobiles sur les Champs 4’ auction taking place in a few days where four Giuliettas will be sold.  Check it out!

Giulietta Sprint 750B 1493*03793, 1315*03496.  Nice early Sprint Normale expected to make 24,000 – 30,000 Euro’s.  Probably the good deal of the four they are offering.

A lot of effort went into this car to make it look good.  Correct 155 series tires, great fit and finish all around.  Small headlamps are a big selling point for some collectors.

NSU Sport Prinz on eBay

You know I have a soft spot for the NSU Sport Prinz -and you should- too since they were one of the few other Scaglione designs to come out of the BAT exercise, with the first few hundred being built by Bertone.  This one is a bit frightening, but not too far gone me thinks.  More importantly, check out the yard it’s in.

Comprehensive bumper!  This is a short car -even for it’s day.  Who’s hiding in the back ground?

State of the union – fall 2012

Frequent readers will note that not much was posted to giuliettas.com from early September  through the present.  I have had a few gentle nudges in the form of emails basically asking: “Hey – are you still alive??” and a few donations which I take to be nudges of a different sort (big THANKYOU’s by the way – you know who you are).  Well, what’s going on then?  I turned 40 in mid-September, took a 2 week vacation in New Hampshire, Vermont and NYC, Rufus started daycare upon return ’cause mom went back to work, I moved my shop -which is currently about 50% done, and started a new venture with another start up.  Simply put – my mind and hands have been elsewhere, but now I am ready to get back to it.  What about my projects you ask?  Here’s the latest:

Giulietta Sprint -it’s wintering right now because it needs a full tune up, new tires and I drive it so much I wore out the Denso alternator.  I’m strongly leaning towards painting it in the spring…
