2010 Sprint and Sprint Veloce market review

As usual there were fewer Sprints than Spiders.  Other than some repeat customers, it was a lot of cars coming out of hiding.  Looks like you need to get in to the high teens money-wise to get into something that moves under its own power.   As usual they are presented in order of cheapest to most expensive.
Market 262 was Sprint 10105 20827, for sale out of Pennsylvania for $750 -probably the cheapest Sprint of the year.

Market 272: Sorry Sprint in the French countryside

Olivier in France turned me on to this Sprint.  He says it’s likely near Bourgogne.  Car looks pretty rough but complete and in ‘as parked’ condition- kind of how my Sprint would look if I disappeared in South America for 20 years and it found itself rolled out into a wet field in which to await my return.
Eventually there wont be any Sprints like this.  I think what happens on the hood is water gets in the holes the hood spear attaches through and the water fills the lowest front edge of the hood with water and it rots.  On my car it gets in and fills up the spark plug holes.

Market 276: Good 101 Sprint project 20004

Giulietta Sprint 10105 1493*20004. I didn’t write about this one while it was active, but it went unsold after 16 bids brought it to $8522.  Very original interior remains and all in all the seller is correct that this should be a straight forward project.  Heck, maybe just do the brakes, clean out the carb and go for it!
Yep, metallic black.  No, really.  Rockabilly-bling!

Market 104: 101 Sprint Racer in Italy

Update 10/26/10: This charmer has found its way to the UK and can now be had for the same money it was before.
Most of the stickers have gone -two tone is still a little odd but works for a race prepped car.
Original post 4/8/2009: Giulietta Sprint 10102*160784. This racy fellow is available now on Classic Driver for 21,950 pounds (about $32,000 at time of writing) from a private seller in Italy.   If you are looking for a Sprint that’s not too dear to take racing this might be the right car for you.  I’ve been thinking about going racing in my local vintage racing scene and this is the sort of car I would build.
bigbPaintwork looks great as does all the trim.  I’d be tempted to remove some of the grills.  I like the color combination.

Market 264: 1957 750B Sprint puzzle in Sweden

Update: The UK guy is not the owner AND both door panels are included.  I can still put you in contact with the seller if you want…
Giulietta Sprint 750B 1493*04386. A guy in the UK asks a guy in San Francisco Bay Area to list a car he has stored in Sweden… of course!  This small headlight, matching number 1957 750B project is available now for the reasonable 9000 Euro’s.  Email me (sprints at giuliettas dot com) if you want a direct email address for the seller.
Looks like a Sprint to me.  Door fit is great, nose is pretty good and the hood fit is good enough as a place to start.  Kind of an odd color combo with beige and rusty orange wheels -original was Grigio Chiarissimo.  Windows and trim look good.

Market 262: 101 Sprint shell in PA

Giulietta Sprint 10105 1493*20827. This car, or at least what’s left of it is available right now in Philadelphia Pennsylvania for $750 obo.  It has been pretty thoroughly stripped  but I see some good stuff still attached including a decent early steering wheel, pedal box, rear end and some trim/headlight parts.  Would make a great 24 hours of Lemons car!  Contact me for more info.
Looks decent for the asking price -straight body with rust etc.  I could use those clear turn signal lenses myself!  I don’t think the engine seen here is included.

Market 260: Giulietta SPRINT RACE CAR

Update 9/21/10: $4500 is pretty strong money for this car as parts unless the engine is as fresh and well built as the seller claims.
Giulietta Sprint 10102*155977. If you’re in the Orlando Florida neighborhood and a challenging Sprint project is just the thing for you then this charmer currently on eBay might do the trick.  In truth this is a parts car or the sort of project a passionate but poor giuliettisti might toil on for a few years and maybe take to the level of being doable at some point in the future -either way -it’s not likely to be expensive.  Does come with a fancy engine though.
Here I am -take me.  It’s just sad that this is how what probably would have been a decent car if it had stayed hidden for a generation longer.  Pieces are there, the nose it straight.  Maybe.

Market 257: Series 1 750B Sprint project

Giulietta Sprint 750B 1493*05931, 1315*05350. This Sprint was posted for sale on the Alfa BB a few days ago out of Eau Claire Wisconsin.  As can be seen from the pictures it’s a big project but the $5000 obo asking price is reasonable considering the matching numbers and state of the engine.  I was tempted myself by this but then I thought about my soon to be departed SS’s and vow to only get into ‘easy’ projects and, well, here it is for someone else to go for.
This treatment reminds me of Market 228 Sprint -either it’s how they come out when a bondo mask is applied, or the same artist at work.  But… it comes with a spare nose for grafting purposes.  Yea… looks scary but it’s on wheels and lots of stuff is in place.

Market 256: '61 Sprint **Potential Show Car**

Update 8/31/10… morning: Craigslist ad is working again.
Update 8/30/10… evening: Craigslist posting has been deleted.  Sold?  Headed for eBay?  Tree fell on it?  Chances are it’ll turn up before long.

Giulietta Sprint 10102*158831. This car is listed on Craigslist out of St.Charles, IL for the asking price of $29,000.  The seller claims the 1600 engine is original but this car should have a 00102 series 1300 (around # 00102*24900) unless it was made for some market d’Amico & Tabucchi don’t know about.  Looks like a really nice car!
It’s hard to tell much from this picture.  Door and hood shut lines look good, sill trim is missing and wipers are sitting pretty high on the windshield glass.  Looks to have a Ferrari sticker above the badge on the fender. Continue reading “Market 256: '61 Sprint **Potential Show Car**”

Market 255: 1956 Sprint "needs restored"

Update 9/7/10: $7900 after 24 bids is where this unlikely survivor ended up.  Good luck new owner!

Giulietta Sprint 750B 1493*03396. This 1956 column shift Sprint is on eBay right now out of Medina Ohio with a current, reserve not met price of $2500 after 14 bids and 9 days to go.  Car sports a set of later egg-crate style grills but the headlights still appear to be the early small type so I doubt the body has been altered.  Check it out.
6″ lights I think -good thing the buckets are present -too bad the lights themselves are ruined.  Hood spear has been abused. 101 grills can probably be fit without much effort on an early car.
