Market 199: Hard work done 750D Spider project

Update 3/16/10: 2 bids, $5101, no sale.  Would have been a bargain at this price.  I’ll have to ask if it’s still available.

Giulietta Spider 750d 1495*06473. This Black Plate car is on eBay right now out of Southern California. Seller is not the owner but I know him through the Alfa world and he’s an upstanding guy and not a car dealer so everything in the description should be taken at face value. Starting bid of $5000 is very reasonable considering the effort required to get a car into this condition and ready for final prep and paint. Sure, lots of little stuff needs doing -just about everything in fact, but none of it looks that bad.

This looks very good. Nose features are well defined and this is without filler. Door fit looks good, hard to say about the hood.

Market 172: Giulietta Spider 1495*05689 at the gallery

Giulietta Spider 1495*05689.  This car, an early 1959 interim model, is available right now from The Gallery, Brummen in the Netherlands.  The gallery looks like a big museum where you can buy the display pieces.  The stock on their website ranges from the mundane to the impressive with prices to match.  Hopefully someday I can make it there for a look around.  Someone should do something like that here in the USA.  On to the star of the show…

I chose this one for cousin Norm since it has a BMW 2000CS in the background.  Spiders look very sophisticated in white -like a guy who is always wearing a tuxedo.  Front side marker tells me it’s a European market car.  From this distance and at this resolution the car looks very nice.

Market 166: Scruffy but nice early Spider

Giulietta Spider 1495*02713.  This car has been on Bringatrailer, Craigslist and Alfa BB.  It may be still available, but I doubt it.  This car is a 1957 which makes it elligible for events not open to 58 and later cars.  Car is in San Diego and asking price of $14,000 is reasonable if it needs as little as the sellers description indicates.  I am primarily adding this car for posterity.

This is how you like to find them.  Straight, dry and in need of the kind of improvement that is fun to do between drives.  Hood and door fit looks excellent.  I don’t see any evidence of rust.

Market 119: Cheap Giulietta Spider Racer

Update 10/20/09: 28 bidders resulted in a seling price of $13,500. This is very low for this car. A competitive 1300 engine alone is close to $10K to build. I wish I wasn’t paring down myself or I would have jumped in! Another Giulietta heads for Germany.

Update 10/14/09: This car is back on eBay. Previous buyer and now seller has a pretty comprehensive description and you now know exactly what you are getting. If nothing else, the auction is worth a visit to see some vintage pictures of it in action. I wonder what has been done to the engine? Cams? Big valves? Look for a solid end price this time.

310250106_oLooks like fun. These cars look good with no grill trims at all.

310250114_oIt’s hard to put a price on proven track time. This car seems to have it. I want a race car!

Giulietta Spider Race Car 10103 1495*11341. This car was on eBay briefly last week and ended BUY IT NOW on 5/22/09 for $12,000. Someone got an amazing deal or ripped off and I suspect the latter. If you know this car drop me a line.

ar%20(2)Good color, great panel fit, very nice trim condition.

Market 153: 750D Spider roller project

Update 10/20/09: 8 bids drove this car to $5451.45, a nice round number. Decent money and probably right at that point where the buyer and seller are happy. Another Giulietta off to foreign shores?

Giulietta Spider 1495*06230, 1315*05817.  This roller of a project Spider is on eBay right now out of Huntington Beach california.  Car was made 3/9/1959 and is a short wheelbase interim car.  Looks fairly complete but in need of a lot of help.  Engine is not original.  Opening bid is $5000, less than the aggregate parts value and very reasonable for a project this complete.

spider nose 06320Nose is a little busted up but not horribly.  Hood does what it was designed for.  These cars look tough without a windshield.

Market 138: 750D Spider project

Update 10/12/09:  $4250, 25 bids, reserve met.  Doesn’t happen very often that a car does better the second time around.  This means my Spider is under-priced!

Update 9/28/09: It’s back. I guess the high bidder last time got cold feet.

Update 8/10/09: Sold for $3102 with 15 bidders. I guess this means my $4000 asking for my Spider is about right.

Giulietta Spider 1495*05384. This project car is available right now on eBay out of British Columbia Canada. $400 opening bid is a sensible starting place and with the amount of information given about the car it may not be far from the end price. To it’s credit it is basically complete.

Spider 05384 noseAverage Spider checks in for some work and never checks out. The body looks to have been in pretty good shape. Rust, rust and rust seem to have exerted themselves. No quarter (wing) windows. Sigh.

Market 129: 750D 05382 red Spider project

Update 10/12/09: 4 bids, $8650, reserve not met.  Kind of a bargain if it could be gotten around this price and you are not looking to go crazy ‘investing’ in a restoration.  I’d drive it in this shape.

Update 2009/08/13. This car is back on eBay. Some new and honest pictures showing the state of things have been added.  I wonder what happened to the $9000 BIN?

Update 2009/07/14: Apparently eBay was just used to get someone to email the seller and say “I’ll give you x dollars for it” because the auction was ended early. I received a reply that $9000 was the buy it now price so I’ll assume that is what it sold for.

Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*05382, 1315*44373. This red 1958 Spider project is on eBay right now out of Connecticut. Auction is minimal at best with the seller not even bothering to roll it out enough to take a picture of the back, but from what can be seen in the pictures it looks like a pretty solid example.

m129 noseThis is how you find them when they have been left alone. Would probably clean up and look pretty good with some polish and realignment of a few of the trim pieces.

Market 139: Low number Spider 750 D challenge

Update 8/10/09: 2 bidders, $51, reserve not met.  I’d give the seller $100 for the front suspension components without hesistation.  I have a feeling it will be a while before anyone decides to take this thing on.  Hopefully some kind soul will keep it out of the rain until then.

Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*00808.  Available out of San Rafael California on eBay right now is this project.  Early number is a draw for some Giulietta lovers, especially since it gives admission to many events open to 57 and before cars.  Doors, trunk and hood are included so $2500 buy it now is somewhat reasonable.

149500808 noseNot for the faint of heart finds definition here.  Must have been quite an accident.  I know of a Giulia SS like this.

Market 127: Sold Spider. Assembled in Mexico!

Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*02420.  This car sold on eBay recently for $18,100 after 38 bids.  About the right result for a car like this.  What do I mean ‘a car like this’?  See the sellers  description for the full details, but basically a largly unoriginal bitsa that spent most of it’s life in Mexico.  Not that any of that is in and of itself bad, especially if the result is fast and looks good, but Giuliettas are trending towards originality being reflected in asking and selling prices as interest and values go up.  Bringatrailer did a write-up which can be found here.
other other frontAlways a pleasure to see a Giulietta Spider nose that is well turned out in a color other than red, white or black.  Not a lot to fault up here!

Market 111: Black 750D in Germany.

Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*06320, 1315*45263. Available now on Anamera, this Spider is one of the nicest (or at least best photographed) I’ve had the opportunity to write about. It appears to have been detailed to the smallest detail and looks amazing. 39,500 Euro’s ($52,000 at press time) is absolute top money for a standard passo corto (swb) Spider so I don’t know that this car will find a taker, but it’s nice to look at and use as reference when I get to work on my pile.

06320 spider frontIs it any wonder it’s this nice if it’s found its way to Anamera? Looks good all the way around.
