Market 453: Spider 09805 nice in red, yes it is!

Giulietta Spider 10103*09805.  This car is on eBay right now with a Buy it Now of $89,500.  It’s a nice one, and before I get into the gory details of incorrectness, I have to remind myself and you gentle reader, that it’s HARD to get a car to this point.  It requires either a steady check writing hand (and a very skilled payee) or an attention span worthy of a Nobel prize.

This is either a really good shade of red, or the lighting is just right.  Fantastic shut lines, very nice trim, slightly on the blue side of silver wheels, Cibie headlamps.  A nice one.

Market 452: Spider 171325 -pretty clean

12/24/12:  Understandably not sold for $21,100.  Better pictures and a little research allowing for a candid appraisal of it’s condition by the seller would help.

12/17/12: Giulietta Spider 10103*171325, 1315*010625.  This car is on eBay right now out of  Quebec.  It looks okay, but it’s tough to tell much about a black car in dark pictures.  The seller seems to be a dealer of primarily American/Muscle type cars.  In the description they seem surprised the car has a twin cam engine.  Heh!

Screen Shot 2012-12-16 at 8.45.57 PM

Nice!  The chrome is all new as are the tires.  Can’t say much about the paint/body -needs some outdoor pictures.

Market 413: Spider 10103 08586 in SoCal (or is it 08536?)

Update 12/12/12:  No sale at $15K.  I’m sure we haven’t heard the last.  Note that it is new information that it has engine 1315*32058 – a Veloce engine.  Would like to see a picture of the block stamping.

Update 11/26/12:  This car has turned up on eBay again.  Still doesn’t look like a bad car, but it is wrong in some key areas that are keeping the price low.

Update 7/1/12: Seems like it should have been bid up higher…

Giulietta Spider 10103 1495*08586.  This car is available on eBay from Chequered Flag, frequent purveyors of classics.  Car is restored to mostly original with some ‘as fits the owner’ condition additions.  Mostly good, but with some deviations from stock that beg for a definition of ‘restored’.  At least the asking price is not overly inflated.

In the tradition of red.  Body looks pretty good, as does the trim.  It’s easy to nit pick a nice car, but easy to forget it’s hard to get one this far.  Put that top down already!

Artcurial Automobiles sur les Champs 4 – Giuliettas at auction

I can take a hint guys!  A few of you pointed me in the direction of Arcurial’s ‘Automobiles sur les Champs 4’ auction taking place in a few days where four Giuliettas will be sold.  Check it out!

Giulietta Sprint 750B 1493*03793, 1315*03496.  Nice early Sprint Normale expected to make 24,000 – 30,000 Euro’s.  Probably the good deal of the four they are offering.

A lot of effort went into this car to make it look good.  Correct 155 series tires, great fit and finish all around.  Small headlamps are a big selling point for some collectors.

Market 433: Spider 10103 171827 auctioned by Gooding & Co

Update 8/22/12: So I was wrong -this car only made $41,800.  That ought to keep every 101 1300 (and 1600 too methinks) Normale owner with a clean example from getting too big a head over their car.  Of course -I heard from some in-person inspectors that it was more tired than it ought to have been…

8/2/12: Spider 10103*171827.  At the Pebble Beach weekend this year Gooding will possibly be attempting to set a record for the sale of a Normale 1300 Spider.  The car is very nice and it’s easy to say it could use some detailing, but I imagine improvement would be difficult without major expense.  It is for the most part a preserved car by the description, but a lot has been replaced -even so, this is the kind of car I prefer -lightly used and well maintained.

Tidy little creature.  Great shut lines and good trim alignment.  Wheels appear to be Borrani’s.

Market 69: Yet another restored ‘Guilia Spyder’ 372402

Update 7/22/12: This car has surfaced on Hemmings Motor news for $47,000. Still looks good. Amazing how they get around.  The current seller has done a lot of work to the interior -it looks amazing now.

Sensibly the Ferrari sticker has been removed from the fender.

Update 12/15/08: Auction ended at $26,250 with 35 bids, $250 more than I predicted.  Look for the follow up.

Giulia Spider 10123*372402. This car is on eBay right now. Car was new with a single carb 1600 but the seller states the original engine was a 750 series 1300 with a 4 speed which can’t be right, but as the driver of a 1750 powered 2000 series Berlina I don’t doubt that is what was in it when they got it. Older Alfas tended to get whatever running engine was on hand when the original gave out. I don’t know how a guy can spend $40,000 on restoring a car and misspell both of the words in the model name on the title of the auction, but hey, it’s a free country.

2d3a_3Pretty odd combination of mirrors can be seen here. This car is Porsche Boxter metallic ‘Ocean Blue’, a nice color in the right setting, and I’m sure striking on this car, but a detractor to most people that would spend big money on a car like this. I’d have talked him into Dutch or Tornado blue, both period correct, striking and not far from what can be seen here. I can’t fault the preparation though, the car looks great with all trim in top condition.

Market 338: Neglected Spider 1600

Update 5/6/12:  I don’t remember if it failed to get any bids, or was ended early, but this car is back on eBay after a brief hiatus.  Seller seems to have done some research and knows what they are selling this time around.  Car looks a lot better now and the opening bid has gone from $500 to $6499.  Such a deal.

Much better no?  Check out the difference in descriptions, both are posted below.

Market 417: Nice 1600 Spider 374485

Update 7/1/12:  $29,200 is good money for one of these late cars.

Giulia Spider 1600 10123*374485. This car is on eBay right now out of Scottsdale Az.  Condition is very good, not quite fancy auction fodder, but headed in that direction.  Short comings include the black engine compartment and trunk floor as well as some non originality in the interior such as mirror and shift knob.  It’s a good car that gets such minor criticisms.

Sometimes I feel like I’ve seen this scene so much it’s like dejavu.  Trim and paint looks great, shut lines are excellent and he lawn is sinfully green for a desert yard.

Market 261: 1600 Spider 10123 375767 in Idaho (was in Buffalo)

Update 7/1/12: Seller has commented that this car has sold and is happy with the sale price.

Update 4/11/12: 18 months later this car turns up in VERY nice shape on eBay with a respectable $62,000 buy it now price.  List of work done reads like a wish list for my car.  Goes to show that even when you start with an excellent car there is a lot to do to make it ‘right’ if that’s your aim.  If you read the original ad below I mention that it had a Sprint seat adjusting knob and that I had an extra Spider one -I sold it to this seller, so a humble part from my stash is incorporated here.

Very nice Kevin!  Don’t know that eBay is the right place to list this, but it’s amazing to see the transformation.  Unusual perspective this.
