Box with very cool contents arrives at Giuliettas.com HQ

Update 1/16/12: You can contact Rene at rkemmer @ knoware.nl if you are interested in a set.

1/13/12: I keep this site up for free for the most part.  Some days I spend 20 minutes, some 2 hours, but I just do what they day dictates, because I enjoy it and have this vision of what this site would be if I kept it up for 20 years.  Every once in a while I get a gift because of the site.  Laurence gave me a VERY nice steering wheel for my Sprint -transforming how the feel of the car was transmitted through my hands, Bob gave me some very nice used all red tail light lenses, Joe a set of headlight rings and an air box and there are others.  Today, all unexpected, Rene sent me this:

It’s actually kind of funny, I thought the orange post office ‘come get your package’ notice was for a box (or two) of Glas GT parts I was expecting from Germany, or my rebuilt Solex from George, or even possibly more baby stuff.  I was not expecting this.

Market 357: Sprint Veloce Confortevole 06469

Update 1/15/12: This car has been loosely assembled, had new pictures taken and relisted on eBay.  Seller says to call them (Daniel, 203 778 2601), that they expect to have a strong offer for it and sell it before auctions end.  I hope it finished at auction so we get a sense of what a car like this is really worth.

Looks like a car now.  I know it needs as much work as one all apart to restore this, but I would make it run and drive with the minimum effort first, enjoy it on the road for a few years then do a gradual nut and bolt.  Too bad I don’t have a billionaire benefactor in my readership.  A wonderful book about the restoration of it could be produced.

I am assuming this is all just finger tightly assembled, but at least you can see it’s all there. -except the hood latch.  Would the hood have been stamped with the body number?

Laurence’s SVC has this color scheme interior, in original condition.  This would look amazing if just carefully put together with what you see.  Horn ring is busted.

Market 243: Small headlight Sprint 01682 in Australia

Update 1/14/12:  This car has turned up in Australia with an asking price of $32,500 or about $33,400 US.  I also got a tip that it was available in Southern California, but apparently, it’s an old link.  The seller from 8/2010 confirmed it’s in Australia.

You don’t see this angle often unless you or your neighbor has a Sprint and you have a second story balcony overlooking the parking area.  I want a first series Sprint project.  Maybe after the 750D project that’s after the Glas GT project.

Market 369: Spider 750D 02726 at Gooding

Update 1/22/12: Car sold for $60,500 including buyers premium.  Anyone catch the sale price of the red one?

Original post 1/13/12: Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*02627.  This car will be auctioned in Arizona later this month by Gooding & Co along side the dusty barn-find of Market 367.  Car is described as, and appears to be largely original, having never been apart and repainted once, over 20 years ago in the original color.  750D Spiders are hot right now and Gooding’s has been successful auctioning Giulietta’s so I expect this car to do well.

This is a flattering angle for the Spider, though the white paint makes the contours disappear.  Trim, paint and everything else looks just right.

Market 368: Spider 750D 01969 in Germany -super clean!

Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*01969, 1315*41915.  This car is available now out of Germany on Classic Driver.  Condition is very good with matching numbers and what appears to be all the right parts.  There are a lot of these early Spiders on the market right now, but few offer no excuses turn-key performance and high level finish like this car.  Asking price is 47,999 Euro’s or about $61,000.  Lots of restoration information can be found here.

I like them in this dark red.  That big money RHD car out of Australia was a similar color.  I can’t find fault with it in this picture other than the oddly shaped rear view mirror.

Market 367: Spider 750D project 00991

Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*00991.  This car is going to be auctioned by Gooding and Co this January 20/21st in Scottsdale Az.  It’s really playing up the dusty barn find appeal, and for good reason -it has a lot of that dusty barn find appeal!  There are a lot of guys who pay a premium to be the first one to take a crack at a car like this, and as such I expect a healthy sale price.

Nose is very straight.  Trim needs some chrome help, but looks pretty good.  I like the dust!

Market 365: Sprint Veloce racer 157435

Giulietta Sprint Veloce 10106*157435.  This car is listed on Anamera as available now out of Italy.  It’s a rough and ready racer with a spartan, uninspiring interior and lots of modifications.  Asking price is 32,500 Euro’s or $41,500 at the time of writing (as the Euro depreciates against the dollar).

I’m not much into yellow, but it works on Sprints.  Body looks pretty straight -no glaring problems.  Hood fits well and the grills all look nice.  Lots of trim is missing, but that’s just dead weight -right?  Wheels look as though they may be original Cromodora’s.

Market 363: Spider 750D 00033 in Sweden

Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*00033.  Henrik wrote to inform me that this car was available in Sweden for 349,000 SEK, or about $50,500 at the time of writing.  The car was sold by Jo Bonnier to Prince Bertil Bernadotte, Great Uncle to the current Swedish King.  Engine is said to be the original one, but it sports Webers now.  If you’re in the market for a very early number car, then this might be for you -doesn’t hurt that the asking price of this car is less than a lot seen recently.

Light blue is charming as always.  Door an hood fit look excellent.  All the trim fits well.  A nice car.

Market 309: Stunning Celeste Spider Veloce 750F 03861

Update 1/6/12: I feel like I’m watching a rocket take off at Cape Canaveral.  This car has been listed by Colin’s Classic Cars in Milwaukee for $125,000.  It looks like some work has been done to tighten it up but it didn’t seem to need anything the last time it sold. It remains stunning and it remains one of the best I’ve had the pleasure of writing about.

Can this car have appreciated $54,900 in 7 months?  I hope we find out, and hold on to your hat if it has.
