Market 535: Giulietta SS 00246. Nice, but…

Giulietta Sprint Speciale 10120*00246.  This car is on eBay right now out of Saint Ann Missouri.  It presents very well, but has some details that have me and probably most people who know SS’s and would consider spending money on this car scratching their heads.  It’s kind of like someone who didn’t know there were two distinct versions of the SS restored it based on looking at a car that was the wrong series.  This is not to say this is a bad car in any way – and it’s not too difficult making a car this nice “correct”, but the buyer should just be aware of the liberties that were taken, or the parts book was not consulted when restoring it. Asking price is $139,900. I haven’t been paying too much attention to live auctions, so I can’t say where this falls in today’s price spectrum.

I like the little slice of gentlemans study they have it sitting in. It’s hard to tell in this picture but this car has Giulia SS badges rather than Giulietta. Like i said, not terrible to fix. Paint looks phenomenal in the pictures, but I would want to see it in person before I bought it. Panel fit, trim fit and everything else looks great.

Market 534: 1961 Sprint 10102*157352 -white interior!

Giulietta Sprint 10102*157352.  This car is on eBay right now being listed out of New Jersey, but actually residing in Italy.  This slight location disparity will probably put off a lot of buyers, so a good deal may be possible if a buyer is not in a hurry and leverages eBays buyer protections.  It was previously bid up to $25,532,  a smokin’ deal if that auction was for this car being sold out of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Hello handsome!  NA = Napoli?  Nice setting for a car shoot.  Very presentable car.

Market 533: Mexico Sprint 07413 on SF Bay area CL

Update April 13, 2016:  Talked to the buyer of this car the day before yesterday.  He’s very enthusiastic about it and has begun a rolling restoration.  He says it is absolutely rust free and in many ways better than he expected.  As the comment below says, we will all be belly-aching about how we should have bought this car in 5 years.

Update February 15, 2016: This car has been listed on eBay.  It has 8 bids and sits at $40,000 as I type.  I should be nicer to my Sprint -maybe even get it painted!

February 1, 2016: Giulietta Sprint 750B 07413.  This Sprint is on my local Craigslist.  Has all the hallmarks of a survivor from Mexico… redone but totally deviating from original interior.  Odd components in the engine compartment and probably a black 80’s cassette deck.  Asking price is $38,000.  One needs to see this in person checking carefully for filler.

Looks like a Sprint.  I can’t tell if the sill trim is missing or just nor original.  No wipers.

Market 515: SS 10121 381227 in Texas

February 15, 2016: After failing to sell for $127,500 last fall, this car has been relisted for $114,500.  Market getting soft or just more realistic?

October 6, 2015:  Giulia Sprint Speciale 10121*381227, 00121*01269, Body 87*2658.  Another SS surfaces, this time from Driversource in Texas via eBay.  It really is amazing how many SS’s come to market these days.  The asking price on this one is $127,500 Buy it now or Make offer.  It has several AROC markings.  Anyone know this car?

So far so good.  This one has Borrani steel wheels -something some of you get excited about.  This thing sits nice and low.

Market 532: Giulia Spider Veloce 390662

Update January 22 2016: 1 bid buys the car at the opening price of $69,900.  I wonder if the seller actually let it go?  Sounded like they were into it for much more than that.  A lot of guys would like to see this Spider model get expensive ($100K+), but I just haven’t seen it yet.

completed auction

January 8 2016: Giulia Spider Veloce 10118*390662.  This super clean example of a late Spider Veloce is on eBay right now.  It has a blank factory replacement engine that is said to be built to 00121 spec, though it would be hard to verify this.  The seller quotes a survivor-ship of 1965 built cars as 150 – 350 out of 801, not sure where this number comes from.  Asking price is $109,000 buy it now, with a $69,900 opening bid – probably not a bad deal at the low end of this range if all the work quoted was done to the standard it looks to have been done to.  Too bad about the original engine though.

Milano plate I believe.  Very nicely put together restoration.  Another red one…  Continue reading “Market 532: Giulia Spider Veloce 390662”

Market 531: 101 Spider Normal 168828 at auction

Giulietta Spider 10103 168828.  This car is being auctioned by BVA auctions right now.  Looks like a decent starting point if a project is your thing and you are in Western Europe.  Opening bid is 19,000 Euro – not ridiculous.  Might be the kind of project where you can assemble it, get it running and enjoy it for a while before really digging in.  I suppose that depends mostly on the health of the engine.

Body looks pretty good.  Seats appear to be Fiat 850 items.  I like the little marker lights.  Door shut line is great.

Market 529: Spider 750D 00406 – older restoration

Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*00406, 1315*40343.  This early Spider is on eBay now with a high asking price of $55,000.  It needs to be inspected in person to determine if the price is right.  Early Spiders have been popping up a lot this year!

Great color!  Funny pin stripe.  Looks like a good honest car – everything fits together well.

Looking for an early Sprint 750B near me for photos

I’m working on a project for the site that requires a lot of really detailed photos of an early Sprint 750B (54 – 58).  Anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area have a car I can come take a bunch of photos of and care to help out?  It need not run or even be fully together.  Ideally I’d get to take pictures of a few.

Free access to all my posts if you help out.

Oh wait… they are already free.  Oh well.  Lots of gratitude then!

Thanks.

Like this… only I get to take them!

Market 528: Spider Veloce 750F 05175

Giulietta Spider 750F 1495*05175, 1315*40406 (not matching – also includes 1315*011891).  I got an email from regular reader Chris that he wanted to list his Spider Veloce project for sale on Giuliettas.com -the time pressures of new fatherhood meant he doubted he would get around to finishing it any time soon.  The car is near Kalamazoo Michigan.

The body metalwork has been done and the car painted.  The chrome has all been refinished, and a good amount of it put back on the car.  All the finish work looks to have been done pretty well.  The underside and suspension appears to have been untouched.  The original engine is not included – seller didn’t get it when he bought the car.  The Spider 750D engine included is a really early one, so some creative parts hunting and selling may see this car with an unoriginal but close Veloce engine for not too much money out of pocket, though 40DCO3’s are probably getting prohibitively expensive.  Seller hasn’t provided a comprehensive list, but says it includes lots of extra trim parts, a set of steel wheels, a pair of Dellorto DHLAs probably form the late 60’s, the extra 1959 Giulietta engine and more.

email me at sprints @ giuliettas . com if you want to be put in contact with the seller.

Look -a red Spider Veloce!  Seller is asking $65,000 for car and all parts.  Engine doesn’t currently run – something about a frozen cam, but it has run since being installed.  Assume the worst and probably be pleasantly surprised.
