Update 7/1/12: Curious what happened to this car? BaT is running a series of updates from the buyer. Looks like it’s landed in good hands.
Update 4/16/12: Asking price has been confirmed to be $60,000! Still a better deal than the red one that just ended on eBay for just under $60K.
Update 4/10/12: Car has gotten some press on BaT, lots of experts with short attention spans chiming in in the comments section. I don’t think this car rolled over -had an off-road excursion rather. I maintain -not a bad project.
Giulia Sprint Speciale 10121*381323. This car is on Craigslist right now out of New York. It was purchased after an accident of some sort and mothballed until now, with the tow drivers grease pencil writing still on the windows. Body has some serious problems in the roof area, but I’m pretty sure most restorers would rather tackle some roof dents than rust. I think the survival of this car is proof that there are a lot more SS’s out there than seems possible.
What happened. Crashed into a tree that then fell on it? Not nearly as bad as it would be if it was stored out doors.
Ouch! Car would probably easily run. Alfa engines are forgiving in my experience.
Untouched. No really.
Rest of the interior looks very good too. Dash is in original graphite gray.
Hello, my lucky to still be here name is… 3811323.
Rust situation is pretty good. Very solid car!
As picked up in ’79.
Busted up but totally do-able.

“Rust situation is pretty good. Very solid car!” Let us know how do you arrived at that assertion. Pictures are not indicative of nothing other than the item in question might deserve further consideration. Ask anyone who had purchased a vehicle based on pictures to find out later otherwise.
I’ve owned and attempted rust repair on two different SS’s. This car doesn’t have any evidence of the ‘usual’ rust. I’m sure it has *some* but to my eyes looks pretty solid.

Crazy time capsule!
This could be a bargain for both seller, who has held onto this long enough to see the market come to him, as well as the right buyer (“right”, in this case, being a buyer with access to a confidant and experienced metal man who knows his way through the kinks wrought by this car’s experiences). Look at the general symmetry in views around the car. It appears that something heavy did indeed fall on it, and NOT that it’s been rolled. Rollovers torque unitized bodies in ways that this car has seemed to avoid. Given it’s general completeness (the one piece of glass required is coincidentally the one being currently reproduced), the apparent absence of rust, I’ve gotta believe there are any number of shops in the country who will be able to massage these surfaces back to original. Watch for this in about a year in restored condition.
All the experts are chiming in on this at Bringatrailer.com. 193 comments and climbing and no one has gotten a reply with a price from the seller. A worthy project for someone.
SO sick of the “experts” on BaT. I dont go on that site anymore. It’s become irrelevant and has been hijacked by a junta of frequent posters, whose best comments are merely regurgitations of parts manuals and other’s published works and lack any tactile experience on the subject.
Thank you for the focused expertise and true, tracked market values of this site!
