What does every shitty Glas GT project need?\u00a0 That’s right.\u00a0 A parts car.\u00a0 I placed notices around here and there on forums for a parts car and sure enough, one turned up.\u00a0 This car is a very very late in the production run car, and very very rusty.\u00a0 Money was slight -almost trivial really, and it has that ‘ran when parked’ look to it, though it’s been a while.\u00a0 I spent most of my day taking it apart.\u00a0 Viva la full set of rims!<\/p>\n

Yea -or is that yikes?\u00a0 The good?\u00a0 It’s all there.\u00a0 The bad, it’s 200 pounds lighter than a stock Glas GT due to metal loss on the underside.\u00a0 The ugly?\u00a0 It was a low miles nice original car before it fell into the wrong hands.

You could reach through there and tickle the drivers toes.\u00a0 Yep -that’s a P. Frua badge.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It really is a shame.\u00a0 This car has 53,000 miles and ran less than 10 years ago if the modern spark plugs and abundance of coolant are any indication.\u00a0 This is a good color for one of these.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dash and steering wheel are pretty good.\u00a0 Moss is growing on the floor boards.\u00a0 I get the feeling that the rust is all recent activity.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This looks crap.\u00a0 I sort of gave up enthusiasm then decided to pop the valve cover off.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

I was amazed that the inside of the engine was VERY clean.\u00a0 Spotless really.\u00a0 I did a leak down and got nothing, but with 53,000 miles, this crank is not likely to need bearings or anything…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Look at that tasty clutch disk.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong>I am left to wonder what happened here.\u00a0 A totally good looking, low mileage car is left to rot for some reason.\u00a0 I can’t find a fault in the engine other than neglect.\u00a0 Maybe it was parked due to the abundance of rust??\u00a0 It was in Washington after all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
