If it can be brought to life and put on the road without much fuss then a very good buy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Giulia Spider AR10123*373944, Engine 00112*04458.<\/strong>\u00a0 Available now on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cgi.ebay.com\/ebaymotors\/Alfa-Romeo-Spider-Alfa-Romeo-Giulia-Giulietta-101-Spider-Barn-Find_W0QQitemZ270260464805QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item270260464805&amp;_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318\">eBay<\/a> is this 1962 Spider.\u00a0 Seller says it doesn&#8217;t run but rolls and steers fine.\u00a0\u00a0Rust is reported to be limited to the\u00a0shelf behind the seats and the hood edges.\u00a0 From the pictures it appears this car has the 3 shoe drum brake set-up and a later split case 5-speed.\u00a0 No mileage is stated but these cars seem to accrue about 80 &#8211; 100,000 before they are taken off the road for lack of some small repair only to turn up as barn finds 20 years later.<\/p>\n<p>I owned a 1962 Spider very similar to this car.\u00a0 It was a single carb 1600 with a split case 5 speed and 3 shoe drum brakes (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.alfabb.com\/bb\/forums\/giulietta-giulia-1954-65\/31094-62-giulia-ongoing-project-ok-i-admit.html\">you can read about it here<\/a>).\u00a0 It had similar patina but no rust.\u00a0 The engine looked about the same and with a little coaxing came to life easily enough.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giuliettas.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/07\/91cc_12.jpeg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-877\" src=\"http:\/\/giuliettas.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/07\/91cc_12.jpeg?w=300&#038;resize=300%2C199\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rufushamilton.com\/giuliettas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/91cc_12.jpeg?w=500&amp;ssl=1 500w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rufushamilton.com\/giuliettas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/91cc_12.jpeg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><strong>Originally white, now red, with over-spray all over the place.\u00a0 Looks like a straight forward honest car, not quite a wax and go, but almost.\u00a0 All the trim is in place and there are no obvious problems.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giuliettas.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/07\/9271_3.jpeg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rufushamilton.com\/giuliettas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/9271_3.jpeg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><strong>It&#8217;s unusual to find one of these that hasn&#8217;t been hit in the rear, so I would inspect the inside surface of the trunk lid for wrinkles.\u00a0 Tail lights, trunk lock and bumpers all look usable.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giuliettas.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/07\/a71c_3.jpeg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giuliettas.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/07\/9a92_3.jpeg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-879\" src=\"http:\/\/giuliettas.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/07\/9a92_3.jpeg?w=300&#038;resize=300%2C200\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rufushamilton.com\/giuliettas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/9a92_3.jpeg?w=640&amp;ssl=1 640w, \/><\/a><strong>Interior will need a lot of work to be nice, but it&#8217;s all got to come apart anyway.\u00a0 Gauges are more yellow than usual and the rear view mirror needs re-silvering.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t see any cracks in the steering wheel rim which is very unusual.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giuliettas.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/07\/94ae_3.jpeg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" the usual dash problems are not in evidence here.\u00a0 Cap, trim, knobs, toggles, mirror etc are all present and &#8216;right&#8217;.\u00a0 What kind of lazy painter gets over-spray on the heater box?\u00a0 Seemingly most of them as my Spider had the same pattern but white.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giuliettas.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/07\/a71c_3.jpeg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><strong>Here&#8217;s the jack-pot.\u00a0 If you can see this sort of destruction all in one area, you can bet there is more that you can&#8217;t see.\u00a0 Rockers do look good \/><\/a><strong>I&#8217;m pretty sure these are 3 shoe brakes which\u00a0are expensive to rebuild, somewhat complicated to set up and not much of a practical improvement over the two-shoe drums.\u00a0 They are cool in a &#8216;mine&#8217;s bigger than yours&#8217; sort of way though.\u00a0 Rebound wires on Giulietta&#8217;s and Giulia&#8217;s tend to be broken in this way.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giuliettas.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/07\/9bdb_3.jpeg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-881\" src=\"http:\/\/giuliettas.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/07\/9bdb_3.jpeg?w=300&#038;resize=300%2C200\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><strong>Engine<\/strong> <strong>compartment is all as it should be and I&#8217;d be surprised if it didn&#8217;t run.\u00a0 It&#8217;s was probably taken off the road due to a blown head gasket, worn out clutch or non-charging generator.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This car needs a lot of work to be restored, but is a much better starting point than the usual Spider barn-find.\u00a0 I&#8217;d recommend a rolling restoration for this car because it probably isn&#8217;t far from being on the road now.\u00a0 Restoration fatigue is hard to avoid (ask me how I know) for even the most enthusiastic obsessive-compulsive rich person with all the time in the world, and a rolling restoration makes it so you can take a break from the work and enjoy the fruits of your labor.\u00a0 This car well restored would bring probably $25,000, so I would think as it sits anything more than $12,000 is unwarranted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sold!\u00a0 33 bids and an
