I got to the shop early this morning to continue some work I started Friday after work-painting most of the inside of the front end with rust encapsulating chassis paint. \u00a0I finished wire-wheeling all the crud and everything off the engine compartment surfaces, the insides of the fenders etc and it had been sitting for about a week and surface rust had begun to form so it was time to seal it. \u00a0Check it out.<\/p>\n

\"\"Beginning at the end -this is what it looked like when I left today. \u00a0The light gray is self etching zinc oxide primer designed to inhibit rust. \u00a0The black is Eastwood rust encapsulating chassis paint. \u00a0Both are aromatic to put it mildly.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>This is what it looked like when I showed up this morning. \u00a0It takes a surprising long time to paint this with a 1 inch wide brush -time drawn out by the awkward contortions I have to do to get at every little area. \u00a0Time drawn out by the stink of the paint.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>This looks alright to me. \u00a0A coat of chassis paint has to go over this, but it is spray on, so it wont be bad. \u00a0I still need to clean under the floors -should have done it when the floors were out, oh well. \u00a0Also need to clean out in the pocket the engine mount comes through -lots of dirt still in there.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Looking down the tunnel. \u00a0Anyone have the piece the center support mounts to? \u00a0I assume it is welded to the floor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Switching gears after two hours of painting with a brush. \u00a0Appropriate cardboard for a template. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"I had to melt the body solder out of the rocker so I could weld it, but when it all came out there was so little left I decided to cut it out and start from scratch. \u00a0Still trying to figure out what to do. \u00a0Anyone? <\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>How safe am I? \u00a0Glasses keep evil out of my eyes, respirator filters out the larger bits of evil and ear protection reduces the decibels of evil by about 50. \u00a0Hood keeps crud out of my hair a little. \u00a0You get used to it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well, the lead taking the rocker with it was a disappointment, but I will figure out something. \u00a0I have to admit, seeing the engine compartment as it looks in the first picture really got me excited. \u00a0Just think, in 825 more hours I might be able to drive this thing!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
