{"id":636,"date":"2008-08-26T08:15:09","date_gmt":"2008-08-26T15:15:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/giuliettas.wordpress.com\/?p=636"},"modified":"2008-08-26T08:15:09","modified_gmt":"2008-08-26T15:15:09","slug":"other-1315-series-giulietta-engine-numbers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rufushamilton.com\/giuliettas\/2008\/08\/26\/other-1315-series-giulietta-engine-numbers\/","title":{"rendered":"Other 1315 series Giulietta engine numbers."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 1955, with introduction of the Giulietta Berlina and Spider, an engine number series was started for each.\u00a0 For the Spider, engine numbers run from AR 1315*40001*\u00a0through *45854* and for the Berlina AR 1315*50001* through *74950*.\u00a0 In 1956 The Sprint and Spider Veloce&#8217;s were introduced\u00a0 sharing the engine number series starting with AR 1315*30001* and running to *32738*.\u00a0 For 1957 an increased power\u00a0version of the Berlina was introduced, the TI for &#8216;Turismo Internationale&#8217;\u00a0with\u00a0an engine number range starting with AR 1315*80001* and running to *97834*.\u00a0 Oddly the series number for the TI is 753 rather than 750.\u00a0 I have read that the Romeo 2 van was being produced at this point with a Giulietta 1300 engine as an option and if so, it may have an engine number that is a variation\u00a0on one of the above.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1140\" src=\"http:\/\/giuliettas.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/08\/giulietta-watry-berlina-vin-plate.jpg?w=300&#038;resize=300%2C225\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rufushamilton.com\/giuliettas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/giulietta-watry-berlina-vin-plate.jpg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rufushamilton.com\/giuliettas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/giulietta-watry-berlina-vin-plate.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rufushamilton.com\/giuliettas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/giulietta-watry-berlina-vin-plate.jpg?resize=768%2C576&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rufushamilton.com\/giuliettas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/giulietta-watry-berlina-vin-plate.jpg?resize=1024%2C768&amp;ssl=1 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><strong>Andrew Watry owns Giulietta Berlina 750C 1488 01774, engine number 1315*51850.\u00a0 Note the depth of the stamping effort in the vin plate.\u00a0 The early cars seem to have been more aggressively stamped or perhaps the earlier were done by hand and the later had some sort of jig.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Two things were going on in Giulietta production for 1958\/1959.\u00a0\u00a0 First, in Looking at the numbers above you can see an accounting issue in the making if Alfa continued this numbering scheme.\u00a0\u00a0What would they do when they reached Giulietta TI with engine number 1315*99999* or Giulietta Berlina with engine number 1315*79999*?\u00a0 Second,\u00a0they began phasing in the 101 series designations\u00a0and changes.\u00a0\u00a0Some models received a newly redesigned engine that had the 1315 number prefix replaced by one\u00a0staring with 001 followed by two numbers to indicate the model it was in.\u00a0\u00a0Since Sprint Speciales were the first to receive the new engine I&#8217;ll\u00a0use\u00a0one to demonstrate the new numbering relationship.\u00a0 Sprint Speciale 10120-00014\u00a0has engine 00120-00024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giuliettas.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/08\/img_1987.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1141\" src=\"http:\/\/giuliettas.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/08\/img_1987.jpg?w=300&#038;resize=300%2C225\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rufushamilton.com\/giuliettas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/img_1987.jpg?w=640&amp;ssl=1 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rufushamilton.com\/giuliettas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/img_1987.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><strong>The matching engine number to the vin plate above.\u00a0 Doubts about matching numbers?\u00a0 It should be\u00a0as\u00a0clear as this example for all the 1315* engined cars.\u00a0 If you are considering the purchase of a Giulietta and need help figuring out if its a &#8216;numbers matching&#8217;
