Giulietta Spider 750D 1495*01146, 1315*41158. \u00a0<\/strong>Just ended today on eBay<\/a>\u00a0with 14 bids, the highest of which was $4051. \u00a0<\/strong>It’s always sad to behold a car that is just plain beyond reasonable help. \u00a0Judging by the level of completeness, it was probably parked with a leaky valve stem in 1969, and the battery drained before it could be fixed, then winter set in and you know the rest. \u00a0A 1956 model year Giulietta seems to carry slightly more ‘early model’ cache than a 1957, so perhaps someone with a donor body, or connection to inexpensive foreign skilled labor will decide this is worth having a go at. \u00a0After all, this car restored to the standards a couple guys around the country can achieve is probably an $80,000 + car. \u00a0Sorry for the order of the pictures, I’m still working out how the bulk media uploader works on my CMS.<\/p>\n

Rust may never sleep, but it does move at different paces in different places. \u00a0If this was on the north coast of Kauai all you would find are the headlight glasses, tires and anything else plastic, rubber or glass surrounding an oxide welded barely recognizable lump of used-to-be engine. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Funny how when the trunk floor goes, the wiring harness just sags to the ground. \u00a0There’s a little welding to do back here.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Doing the math on indoor storage. \u00a0If this was stored indoors at $50\/month for 44 years, it would have cost $26,400. \u00a0If this car was in as-parked condition of 44 years ago on eBay right now it would probably be in the high $20K’s or low $30K’s, maybe selling for as much as $50,000 depending on that hypothetical condition. \u00a0It’ll probably sell for about $6000 eventually, so, oddly enough, the seller may do better than they would have, had they kept it indoors. \u00a0I know, you have to adjust the garage rent for inflation, but if you do that you have to calculate simple interest on the money saved – probably a wash.<\/b><\/p>\n
