Giulia Sprint 1600 10112*355955,\u00a000112*16110. <\/strong>This car is on eBay<\/a> right now out of Cincinnati from a seller who appears to have some experience with Alfa’s. \u00a0The car is a good, probably not too expensive starting point to Giulietta\/Giulia Sprint ownership, as it runs and drives, looks ‘good enough’ and has only brake maintenance and tires as immediate known needs. \u00a0It has some rust in the battery area and front edges of the rockers as well as signs of bubbling usually associated with poor paint prep, but nothing too bad<\/em>.<\/p>\n

If anyone gets a sensible vin number let me know.<\/p>\n

I have sat with laptop on lap a few hundred times and pondered a good opening line for the pictures. \u00a0Sometimes I go with the ‘these are tiny pictures, how can you say anything other than “looks okay”‘ caveat, or if I’m in a particular sort of mood I might nitpick something -the odd turn signal lights on this guy perhaps -but occasionally I think about the intersection of the worlds you walk driving a car like: the world of what you want out of owning and driving it, how you want to feel while driving it or writing checks to maintain it, and what you want it to say about you – the view at speed from a minimum of 10 feet away seen by passing motorists and pedestrians. \u00a0Ask yourself if…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Decent trunk\/door\/trim etc fit. \u00a0Seller says the ‘airplane’ is missing -I’m not sure this car would have had one. \u00a0There are license plate lights built into the bumper, so an ‘airplane’ and it’s license plate light would lead to a ‘belt and suspenders’ sort of redundancy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Unless someone has scraped all the crud off, neutralized the surface rust and undercoated it you’re better off like this with a warts and all view than if they just undercoated over the surface rust as so often happens immediately before a sale. \u00a0You will want to replace the giubo and center support rubber.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is what happens when the paint prep is not as good as it can be and some bit of rust goes unneutralized.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Even some of the best Sprints end up with rust here. \u00a0Batteries that vent to atmosphere and poorly protected metal go together like dependent personalities and ready access to drugs, requiring early intervention if they’re going to be saved.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some of these 1600 Sprints did have the early type gauges, so getting a tri-gauge and tach to match this speedometer could be an out.<\/strong><\/p>\n
